What our travelers says:

7 months ago Oguzsaid the following about this gem:

Great central location right in the heart of Casemates Square, very easy to reach. The seating area is spacious and comfortable, and the atmosphere is relaxed. You’ll find the classic Burger King menu here, with all the familiar options. It can get a bit busy during peak hours, but overall it’s a convenient and quick fast-food stop. Outdoor seating is a nice bonus. A reliable option if you’re looking for something familiar while in Gibraltar.

9 months ago Neofytos Panagidessaid the following about this gem:

I ordered from the pos right in front of the cashier and choose to pay Cash at the register, my order total was 8,8£. But when I arrived at the register he completely put something else and I ended up paying 14,5£. Keep in mind that before I paid I informed him and told him my order, but the cashier wasn’t bothered not even questioning what I’ve said. 0/10, if I wanted to be treated as a clown I would have gone to McDonald’s.

1 year ago Rupa Nag- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Dear Burger King I would like to share my recent experience which really disappointed me. I visited the Burger King Gibraltar at casemate square on 27/12/2024 and had the worst experience of my life. I ordered one king Dabiz Chicken WITHOUT the bacon. I selected ‘Remove’ option at the kiosk while ordering. Another King Dabiz chicken was As is which had the combo. While i checked the food after getting from counter i found both the burgers had bacon and i thought it’s a simple human mistake. I went to the counter with the bill and the burger and requested them to either take back the burger and refund the money or get me a replacement burger without the bacon(i was ok even if they give veg burger). I clearly selected the ‘remove’ bacon while ordering so i am supposed to get what i ordered. It is not my problem that your kiosk machine din’t include the remove option in your bill. If you can’t give customer what they have paid for shut your business down. You can check your security camera if I have selected’remove’ bacon option or not. To my utter surprise the lady(wearing gray shirt) told me she spoke to the manager and manager said they can neither give a replacement burger without bacon nor refund. So Burger king my suggestion is: remove faulty kiosk: It is not my problem that your kiosk machine din’t include the remove bacon option in your bill. Don’t give the option for selection if you can’t provide the service. It’s same as cheating with customers . be customer friendly. When i said i can’t eat bacon(religious reason), the lady at the counter din’t bother at all. She kept on saying she can’t give replacement/money back. Teach some empathy to your employees specifically the managers. I visited many countries and many burger food places including Burger king/ mac d etc. I always select remove bacon whenever i order similar burger. I never faced any challenges. This is the last time i have visited burger king for sure and will never recommend this Gibraltar brach specifically to anyone i know. Hope you improve your services and give value to customer experiences. Thanks Rupa

The food is really tasty better than the burgers in Germany

10 months ago Moon Handexplained best how he liked it:

This was my first visit since the franchise was refurbished a while back. Buoyed by the frequent an new adverts on Radio Gibraltar, my expectations were raised...but quickly diminished. Sure, the refurb makes the place look better and the ordering screens bring this franchise, at last, inline with others in the World. But...in the late afternoon of Monday 28th April, there were no signature Whopper Vegetals (vegetarian), and they had run out of concentrate for all but 2 of the soda varieties - nice sellotaped paper strips, by the way, on the drink machine; very professional, not! How on earth can you run out of key items like this? This is just hopeless stock control and planning and reflects badly on this business and it's management. See the pics as evidence.

Wow, this place absolutely slaps. Prices are unreal, the vibe is chill, and the waiter? Legit the nicest guy ever — proper made the whole experience feel premium without the premium price. We’ve been a few times now and it just keeps levelling up every visit. If you can grab a spot outside, do it — the atmosphere hits different. But honestly, inside’s still a whole mood, super comfy and just as good. Fully recommend. This place is that restaurant you end up telling everyone about.

Amazing!!! We loved the food and the service is brilliant, great portions! We came back 3 times at this place during our staying in Gibraltar! Keep doing great work and if you are around the square you should stop to have a nice meal and drink and also the ice cream is delicious, not artificial which was amazing!

6 months ago joanna wolny- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

We had the traditional fish and chips here and it was absolutely delicious! The portion was generous, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. On top of that, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommen! -Guests from Poland 🇵🇱

8 months ago Christer Billinger- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

This restaurant sits smack in the middle of the main square of Gibraltar. Nice selection of British beers and spirits. I went for the fish and chips and was not disappointed! Big, flaky piece of cod with a nice batter. Great tasting tartar sauce and plenty of potato wedges. Nice place to sit down for a meal before heading up the rock!

What our travelers says:

6 months ago Ken Warewrote only this for this place:

Service is absolutely atrocious and the food is even worse. Been here several times over the years and always greeted with a grunt, a snarl and minimal English. The staff don’t know what half the menu items are and are so unbelievably rude. Today I ordered a McMuffin and received it with plastic inside. When I went to show the staff and asked for a refund I was spoken to like dirt and near enough had the cash thrown at me (despite paying by card). They truly couldn’t give a damn about the health and safety of the place, let alone the customer experience. The food is at best inconsistent and at worst looks like someone has been playing football with your burger in the kitchen. Hire some English speaking staff and have some level of quality control - it’s McDonald’s, it’s supposed to be the same experience in every restaurant. Avoid unless you enjoy dodgy food and being treated terribly.

8 months ago Brian Chow- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

McD taste like McD. Other reviews was right - pigeons run free inside lol , didn’t see it jump up to the table but I can imagine if there’s food left on the table. Tables not cleaned but is that a customer issue or store issue? As a result - it’s not as clean place to sit and eat inside

4 months ago Wayne- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Decent menu as you would expect but service was very slow, not the cleanest McDonalds you will see with pigeons roaming the restaurant and on tables near us as we are. Did not see many surfaces being wiped down. For the cost and time waited the chips were cold left pretty disappointed. Far better places to eat in Gib.

It was quite nice. We had to wait 20 mins to get our 2nd order(just drinks). Toilets are nice. Also love the pigeon audience inside.

4 months ago Rocio Sánchez Sabanwrote only this for this place:

I attended a children's Bithrday Party(from 4:00 PM to 6:00PM),and the experiencie was extremely disappointing.By 4:45 PM, no one had come to take the children's food orders. The bithrday child's mother had to go and find a staff member herself to get things started-and only then were the parents' drink ordes were taken too. Almost an hour after the party started(around 5:30PM),the children still hadn't eaten. The mother, understandably worried, spoke to the staff again, but they seemed to think this was completely normal. When she returned to the playroom, she realized that no one had shown Up for the face painting either ,so she had to do back once more to ask for someone to come. To make things worse, there was no coffee or tea avaible, which is quite surprising for a place that hosts family events. If It were my business,i would have found a quick solution-even if that meant buying a kettle from a nearby shop. During the celebration, drinks were spilled twice, and the person Who came to clean didn't do a proper job.The floor was left wet and slippery, which is especially dangerous since the children were walking around in socks. There were also no "wet floor"signs placed for safety. After speaking with other parents,I found out that this isn't the first time they've had similar experiences here, which suggests that these issues are ongoing rather than isolated incidents. I understand that short staffing can happen, but what we experiences showed a complete lack of organization, care ,and professionalism. If the owner reads this ,I sincerely Hope they take action to improve staff training and management-because the experience was far below expectations, for both the children and the parents.

We had a wonderful lunch at Mamma Mia – Pizzeria & Pasta House! The food was absolutely delicious — we ordered pizza, pasta, and two salads, and everything was served very quickly and fresh. The girls working there were so friendly and welcoming, which made the atmosphere even nicer. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food. Everything tasted homemade and full of flavor. For dessert, we tried the panna cotta and another sweet treat — both were amazing! Everything was clearly made fresh and with care. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves good Italian food! 🍕🍝🍰

Had a really great time here. It’s quite small but popular so it is definitely worth booking (we saw at least three groups turned away). Super friendly service. Menu is not lengthy, but clearly the priority is to do things well. Good wine!

Brilliant food, meat falls off the bone it’s so tender, absolutely delicious. Drinks served in an icy/chilled glass so it is refreshingly cold. Really good service with polite staff. Really good little place, 100% worth a visit. Be warned - you will be absolutely stuffed after! Portion sizes are very good.

6 months ago FrankZ.how did he rate it?

Damn that was good. Had the pulled pork bun as starter and the the flavor was just great. Hot, steamy and really nice to get into the right mood. Main were the pork cheeks in Sherry Sauce and that's a next level dish. You don't need a knive. The meat just falls apart and melts in your mouth. One of the best dishes I ever had. Loved every bitte. So much flavor it's stunning. The only complaint I can think of is, that today is closed and I have to leave tomorrow and I don't have a chance to come again. Give yourself a treat and try for your own. Highly recommended!

4 months ago Trevor Hudsonwhat can I say about this place?

A great restaurant albeit a bit quirky. Good for our older family, maybe not so good for younger kids. Highly recommended in general and despite being just off the square has a very different vibe to the rest of the places. The steak was amazing and a good price. Not a big restaurant so maybe not great for large groups.

8 months ago Margarida Silvasaid the following about this gem:

A mediocre experience for the current rating. The duck dish came cold and overly cooked. The waiter also didn’t ask how we would like any of the meat to be done. Competitive prices for the area. The inside was quite loud and overwhelming due to the deli alike situation. Quality and taste of food were alright

Really lovely hotel. Incredibly friendly staff. Great work by the cleaning staff who were friendly and flexible. Honestly mazing cocktails at a brilliant price. The downstairs terrace looks like it won't be peaceful as it is near the road but it is actually very quiet. Would also recommend going over the way to Pickwicks. Quality of the breakfast was very high even though it was a buffet. You are walking distance from the high street but it doesn't feel like it. Will be back.

5 months ago Andy Oliverhow did he rate it?

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in September 2025. Lovely hotel in an absolutely perfect location. Rooms were clean, well appointed and serviced daily. All staff we encountered were efficient & friendly. Has a nice restaurant and bar and a separate breakfast room located near the rooftop pool. It's a good idea to heed the signs about times when the breakfast room is busy as it's very accurate. If you turn up in the last 45 minutes you'll be in for a wait. Not linked to this hotel, but a good piece of advice is to take a short walk to where the Official Rock Tours minibuses are located, if you want to go up the rock and explore the various attractions up there. It costs £50 per person but is worth every penny. The guide takes you absolutely everywhere in a couple of hours and it was excellent. A much better way to do it than to brave the awful queue for the cable car and to slog around the sights on foot all day in the hot sun.

5 months ago Sue Lamontwrote only this about this place:

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel and to be honest we would choose it every time we visit Gibraltar. The location is ideal, the hotel is spacious, very clean and inviting, having everything you need, especially the roof top views with the pool. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the food is delicious. Perfect place to stay. Love it.

4 months ago Kaysaid the following about this gem:

This is not a hotel for those with food intolerances. We had food in the restaurant on an evening and have to say we wasn't that impressed with it. We tried the breakfast and found I couldn't eat hardly anything they had as have a severe lactose intolerance and can't eat normal butter. The staff are great

5 months ago Stephen MacLean- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

This hotel was lovely, but a few points let it down. Check in was easy, we had upgraded are room but upon checking in we’re told our upgraded room was no longer available. Credit to the hotel team they apologised promptly and upgraded to an even better room for free which was excellent. The location is fantastic, one downside was that the roof top pool was open but the bar wasn’t so if you wanted a drink or snack you had to go in the lift from floor 8 to the ground floor to order drinks then wait for bar staff to bring up to you, the whole process took 30mins. The main issue we had was during are stay our older daughters were staying on the second floor and most of there floor was booked out by teams of teenager netball teams competing in an event. They were completely unruly and extremely noisy the whole time of our stay. On the occasions I went down to there floor it was like a student dormitory. When you are paying nearly £270.00 per night I wouldn’t expect this. We did let reception know but think they were unable to control them. If the pool bar had been open and the netball teams had not been staying I would have give this hotel 5 stars, but our experience wasn’t great on this occasion. Must say the rooms are wonderful and the hotel is very clean and modern, just check before booking there aren’t several teenage netball teams staying at the same time!!!!!

4. place belongs to The Rock Hotel

The Rock Hotel

What our travelers says:

4 months ago Lucas Sapiaexplained best how he liked it:

4 star hotel, maybe in the 80s but not in 2025. We booked this hotel the day prior to our stay mainly for the pool as it was forecast to be a 30° day. When we checked in we discovered the pool was closed for a private event. There was no notice of this when making the booking which was done via the hotel website. On top of that they had a private function and the DJ was blasting the music until 2am! The rooms are definitely not soundproofed. I raised my concerns when checking out and the staff seemed non fussed. They said the hotel doesn’t consider partial refunds or compensation for any disappointment/disruptions experienced by guests. They did say we could use the pool after we checked out but it was now cold and raining so the moment had passed. The hotel might have been good back in the day but is now quite dated. The rooms are a good size but nothing fancy. The hair dryer attached on the wall looks about 40 years old and didn’t work. Would not recommend anyone to stay here.

5 months ago Chris Cooke- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

This review is effectively a series of small complaints which add up to a 1-star service experience of our first 24 hours at Rock hotel. Annoyingly: 1. The pool wasn’t opened for the afternoon, despite the weather clearly improving. If paying guests feel that it’s good enough to sit outside…. 2. Our room had not been serviced yet at 3pm despite putting the request sign up at 10am. Not great as we wanted privacy in our room for the afternoon. 3. The waiter greeting us into breakfast was brusque and didn’t explain to us how things worked and the options available. Gave the impression that he did not want to interact with guests. I raised these points by email at the time but was not even graced with a acknowledgement or response. So far, so underwhelming. We expected more from a hotel of this heritage and reputation. That said the views from the restaurant and bar terraces were great.

4 months ago Nathan Waterhouseexplained best how he liked it:

I couldn't help being reminded of faulty towers at almost every interaction with this hotel. First night there was a party in the room below me, which continued into the night. I complained the next day and was told off because I should have reported it at midnight. So Second night I did and after 3 calls it stopped. Not the hotels fault I guess. Second day my room wasn't cleaned - apparently you have to request that. Room service said it would take an hour to deliver food. Aside from that the kitchen and waiting staff are very helpful with great service. Dinner was excellent. Just the front desk staff that are a bit unempathetic.

5 months ago Teversham Clubsaid the following about this gem:

Disappointing Decline in Standards Having stayed at The Rock Hotel previously and experienced excellent service, we couldn’t wait to return a year later but this visit was a real disappointment. The overall atmosphere felt tired, with staff appearing inexperienced and overworked. On arrival we had to request a room change due to poor décor and a broken safe. The evening meal service was chaotic — more reminiscent of Fawlty Towers than a four-star establishment — with limited staff and long waits. Breakfast was also below expectations: not à la carte as advertised, with no real selection of breads like last year, no fresh sliced melon or pineapple, just the same fruit salad daily, and noticeably smaller pastries. Waiting 25 minutes for a boiled egg is simply unacceptable, the staff member hadn’t ordered.. Lunch service at the pool was equally poor. A club sandwich took 50 minutes to arrive, despite the kitchen appearing quiet. The pool bar was frequently unattended, and food portions were inconsistent — salads were a quarter of the size on subsequent days, and even “extra chips” arrived as a very small portion. It’s clear the hotel is struggling with staffing and management. The service feels understaffed, undertrained, and cutting corners on quality. Sadly, what was once one of Gibraltar’s best hotels now feels poorly managed and lacking in care for its guests, we felt an inconvenience at times. We couldn’t fault the bar staff, serving fabulous cocktails and interacting with us which others had failed to do. The bar and dining area are greatly decorated and very cosy. The views as stunning as before and made the evening dining on the terrace feel romantic. It’s just a shame the hotel still allows smoking on the terrace during meal times. We felt this iconic hotel would be one we return to annually but sadly not.. such a shame.

Visited on a Sunday and ordered the heavily advertised Sunday roast. Unfortunately the order didn’t get put through to the kitchen so we waited quite a while but my issue is more with the food. The roast chicken & Yorkshire pudding shown on the menu were not representative - the chicken was a fillet of chicken & the chef really should have left the very sorry Yorkshire pudding off!! There was certainly plenty of veg but maybe less is more. Probably should have had the fish & chips

What our travelers says:

5 months ago Rob Hueysaid the following about this gem:

Overall very good experience and food. It was the highest rated in the area and we decided to give it a go. I have had better fish & chips in London, Ireland and Vermont - but it was damn tasty for place on a rock in the Iberian Peninsula. 😎 Our food came out quick, it was fresh and the fish was crispy and tasty. The chips were okay but they were fresh and hot. The salad for the gluten free option was decent as well. The service was a bit disjointed but it went from mostly empty to completely packed with a wait in under 15 minutes. Our service was adequate which is pretty remarkable given how slammed they were. I’d give this a try if you’re in the area and wanted something not typical of the region.

5 months ago Roya MJwhat can I say about this place?

They are raking in on the reputation. The fish was fried well and crispy, otherwise like flavor and the usual condiments. Only came with fish and chips. There was vinegar, salt and pepper on the table, but no tartar sauce or lemon. Once I walked around and saw what the other restaurants were serving, I had FOMO. Not only did it come with better sides and condiments? It was also cheaper. All I’m saying is walk around and look what the other places are offering before settling for this place. I understand they’re busy, but the servers would walk by without saying anything. Had to find my own table and work hard to place an order. My food however, came out fast and hot. Just wish it had some flavoring and the expected condiments.

4 months ago Tender N- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

I ordered the cod and chips that were made to order, and while it came out hot and looked great, it had absolutely no flavor. The fish was extremely bland, the batter wasn’t crispy, and the skin was left on, which was surprising. Even adding a lot of salt didn’t help. Service was fine and the location is great, but the food itself was the worst fish and chips I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend it. I hate to be this harsh but this is an honest review.

5 months ago Liam Sweeneyevaluates this place as follows:

Good selection of fish to choose from. Fish and chips were of good quality (both cod and haddock) . Batter was just right and fish cooked to perfection. Good selection of extras - Mushy Peas, Gravy , Curry (tasty) etc.

5 months ago ezra- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Had to wait in a line for about 20-30 mins, but well worth the wait. Fish was fresh and big, batter was crunchy and not too thick. Recommended to get the mushy peas and gravy. Curry sauce is a little watery and lacks flavor. Service was alright due to the large crowd, could be better.

If there’s one word to describe The Clipper, it’s excellence. The food was absolutely spectacular, from dinner to breakfast (yes, we had to come back for breakfast because we loved dinner so much). We started with the cheesy garlic bread – incredible, such a perfect start. Then came the mains: fish and chips and steak pie. Truly beyond words. Everything was divine, absolutely everything. The white wine was excellent too. We finished with The Clipper’s chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream – so, so good. Breakfast was just as amazing, with menus at incredible prices. We tried both the regular and the small – delicious, every bite. And the menus already include (large) drinks!! I honestly couldn’t recommend this place more – excellent and fast service, great atmosphere, perfect location, and amazing prices!

5 months ago Adrian Wwhat can I say about this place?

Passed this busy pub and saw somebody eating what looked like a good Sunday dinner. I thought it'd be nice to have a roast dinner with a pint of Guinness. The Guinness was excellent. However, the vision of the Sunday roast was much more satisfying than actually eating it. The Yorkshire pudding was overdone on the outside. The roast potatoes were passible but not crispy. The pork (as all the beef had gone) was dry, the vegetables uninspiring, gravy was passable and the potatoes seemed like they were made from powder, so dry were they, in the mouth. Noticing that I'd left at least a third of my meal, the server asked me if I'd enjoyed it. The server explained they were real potatoes but they'd been prepared in the morning. No wonder they were dry then… I've been to this place a number of times, last year even, but all the staff seemed different and it was the most disappointing meal I've ever had there. Unlikely to return.

4 months ago Brandon Simswhat can I say about this place?

This place was recommended by a local. My first time having an English breakfast, it was quite good. Don’t hate on the beans! I’d say it’s more healthy than some of the things we have in the U.S. It all comes nicely together in a balanced meal and the Clipper does it well. Even the tea was good, even though it’s in a bag. Stop by and try, if you don’t want the full one you can get the mini version.

7 months ago Khaled Kurdihow did he rate it?

Went there with my family to have something to eat after a nice day at Gibraltar. Nice Pub atmosphere. The food was classical British pub food, we ordered chicken pie, fish and chips, hamburger and a lamb burger with cheesy nachos to start. The nachos has something like ketchup and corn which ruined it but the nachos were good, the fish and chips was very good and the chicken pie great. The hamburger was closer the fast food burger and the lamburger has mint sauce which again ruined it... Not all lamb should have a sweet mint sauce with it. My daughter ordered a caramel cake with custard and that was a killer.. Really good... Nice place and lovely service... Cool vibe

A true taste of Britain in Gibraltar – the fish and chips were excellent, with a generous portion of quality fish. The English breakfast was also spot on, just as you’d expect back home. Classic British fare done well…
