What our travelers says:
3 months ago Whitney Clarkedescribed this experience as follows:I’ve been a member of this church since the time I was a young adult woman in 2010. The pastor, preachers, and congregation of this church have been feeding and nourishing my spirit with God’s Word and His light since that time—for over a decade and a half at this point. The pastor is a real “teacher-preacher” who, during sermons, makes it a point to ensure the congregation truly understands scripture with historical and full biblical context. The church has also done marvelous things in service of others—giving back to the community in big and impactful ways, being a beacon of Jesus Christ’s light to so many across the nation (with its exceptional use of technology to reach the masses and its genuine invitations to others to join and participate in the wonderful Kingdom of God), as well as doing the work to expand and uplift God’s Kingdom here on earth. The church has been a huge support to me during my walk with Christ Jesus. If you’re unable to visit the church in person, I highly recommend you visit the church’s YouTube channel where you can access live and pre-recorded services and events!
4 months ago Ashlei Masonwrote only this about this place:Went for New Year service 2025/26. Beautiful service. Pastor Wesley is absolutely amazing. Everyone I encountered was so warm and genuinely kind. Highly recommend. Will be back. Parking???? Rough lol be prepared to walk.
4 months ago Joseph Touchstoneexplained best how he liked it:This church is dynamic and reminds me of the traditional Baptist church that I admired and grew up in. Unfortunately, I live outside of the state of VA and can only attend online service. I will definitely visit when I get over that way. Dr. Wesley is a dynamic and "academic" pastor in that he not only preaches, but teaches the word of Christ and its origins. While I have only watched Alfred Street Baptist Church for just over a month, I have learned so much about the Bible, that I had never known. I would recommend anyone in the Greater Alexandria area to visit this awesome church, it's pastor, and congregation. Be prepared to be inspired and learn!
3 months ago Mychelle McDonald- in short, this experience can be described as follows:I have heard so much about this church so in the month of November 2025 on a morning when I was a bedside " Baptist " and (after I watched my present church home) I watched my first sermon and I have been hooked hooked, I enjoy Pastor WESLEY so much that I'm a part of his online SEEK and love this as well. I live in DC and at the present time I do not have a vehicle but I'm still going to attend a service our weather is mad crazy right now but as soon as it gets better I'm attending. Thank you so much Pastor WESLEY for your wonderful words and I'm reading my Bible more thank you 😊 😊.
5 months ago Angelique Chappelle- why does he think this place is on the list? What a disappointing and trashy experience. I was visiting the area from AL and thought I’d visit. I don’t usually do in-person so I decided to take a risk because of the pastor’s profound messages I’ve heard on social media. Finding the parking was a chore. I kept trying to get someone’s attention. Well apparently he (pictured)was a parking attendant; however, he was too busy shucking & jiving to serve. I eventually found the parking garage that truly requires several turns. Walked back to the sanctuary. The same parking attendant who had ignored me told another driver to just park in the front of the church and made a space for her. When I asked him why he was giving special privileges; he said, it was because “she looked like she wasn’t from around here.” I told him I was a first time visitor and not from around here. He then said, “but I saw her circling.” I said, I, too, had been circling. He kept making up excuses. Never apologized or anything when I said rules & practices should be consistent for all. Then I attempted to walk inside, out of all the doors; only 1 was unlocked. Then a man opened that door fussing at me about the alleged arrows that pointed to that 1 unlocked door. Then I was told to go to a darn BASEMENT. Chile, BYE. I left because all of this was too much. Sigh…this is what I get for trying to do church. This church needs a course and a plan to create a better attendee experience -especially for first time visitors. And the man shouldn’t be allowed to interact with anyone if you want people to want to attend.
