What our travelers says:

3 months ago Whitney Clarkedescribed this experience as follows:

I’ve been a member of this church since the time I was a young adult woman in 2010. The pastor, preachers, and congregation of this church have been feeding and nourishing my spirit with God’s Word and His light since that time—for over a decade and a half at this point. The pastor is a real “teacher-preacher” who, during sermons, makes it a point to ensure the congregation truly understands scripture with historical and full biblical context. The church has also done marvelous things in service of others—giving back to the community in big and impactful ways, being a beacon of Jesus Christ’s light to so many across the nation (with its exceptional use of technology to reach the masses and its genuine invitations to others to join and participate in the wonderful Kingdom of God), as well as doing the work to expand and uplift God’s Kingdom here on earth. The church has been a huge support to me during my walk with Christ Jesus. If you’re unable to visit the church in person, I highly recommend you visit the church’s YouTube channel where you can access live and pre-recorded services and events!

Went for New Year service 2025/26. Beautiful service. Pastor Wesley is absolutely amazing. Everyone I encountered was so warm and genuinely kind. Highly recommend. Will be back. Parking???? Rough lol be prepared to walk.

4 months ago Joseph Touchstoneexplained best how he liked it:

This church is dynamic and reminds me of the traditional Baptist church that I admired and grew up in. Unfortunately, I live outside of the state of VA and can only attend online service. I will definitely visit when I get over that way. Dr. Wesley is a dynamic and "academic" pastor in that he not only preaches, but teaches the word of Christ and its origins. While I have only watched Alfred Street Baptist Church for just over a month, I have learned so much about the Bible, that I had never known. I would recommend anyone in the Greater Alexandria area to visit this awesome church, it's pastor, and congregation. Be prepared to be inspired and learn!

3 months ago Mychelle McDonald- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

I have heard so much about this church so in the month of November 2025 on a morning when I was a bedside " Baptist " and (after I watched my present church home) I watched my first sermon and I have been hooked hooked, I enjoy Pastor WESLEY so much that I'm a part of his online SEEK and love this as well. I live in DC and at the present time I do not have a vehicle but I'm still going to attend a service our weather is mad crazy right now but as soon as it gets better I'm attending. Thank you so much Pastor WESLEY for your wonderful words and I'm reading my Bible more thank you 😊 😊.

5 months ago Angelique Chappelle- why does he think this place is on the list?

What a disappointing and trashy experience. I was visiting the area from AL and thought I’d visit. I don’t usually do in-person so I decided to take a risk because of the pastor’s profound messages I’ve heard on social media. Finding the parking was a chore. I kept trying to get someone’s attention. Well apparently he (pictured)was a parking attendant; however, he was too busy shucking & jiving to serve. I eventually found the parking garage that truly requires several turns. Walked back to the sanctuary. The same parking attendant who had ignored me told another driver to just park in the front of the church and made a space for her. When I asked him why he was giving special privileges; he said, it was because “she looked like she wasn’t from around here.” I told him I was a first time visitor and not from around here. He then said, “but I saw her circling.” I said, I, too, had been circling. He kept making up excuses. Never apologized or anything when I said rules & practices should be consistent for all. Then I attempted to walk inside, out of all the doors; only 1 was unlocked. Then a man opened that door fussing at me about the alleged arrows that pointed to that 1 unlocked door. Then I was told to go to a darn BASEMENT. Chile, BYE. I left because all of this was too much. Sigh…this is what I get for trying to do church. This church needs a course and a plan to create a better attendee experience -especially for first time visitors. And the man shouldn’t be allowed to interact with anyone if you want people to want to attend.

I love this place, right here. I live here. I take walks at night sometimes after the sun goes down after 7p. They are very friendly here. I also go there and watch the airplanes 🛫 and just inhale & exhale. Oh, I take my music with me as well. That's my therapy as well. Beautiful sights.

5 years ago Doa Alwrote only this for this place:

We really enjoyed our time visiting this park. There was a nice long walking trail and a place to feed the ducks. I would suggest bring some bread to feed them, they will love that. When we visit a family bought 10 bags of bread to feed them. It is a nice activity for kids and toddlers. There are benches to sit on and we had a picnic there too. Very beautiful views!

4 years ago Tyler Cooper- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

A nice medium-sized park with great views of the bay and easy access to many neighborhoods of Alexandria. We enjoyed our time there and noticed that, while it was by no means empty, that it was not nearly as crowded as many of the other options in the area for relaxing outdoors. Lots of Park benches and nice flat areas with trimmed grass for having picnics (which we did). Would go back anytime and my family enjoys it there.

3 years ago Samir Shahsaid the following about this gem:

It's a serene park by the water, with clean walking paths, rocks to sit on, parking on site and lots of open lawn areas. I love bird photography, and found a lot of different birds here (mallard ducks, ring-billed gulls, mocking birds, finches to name a few).

Lights at Cameron Run Regional Park is truly an incredible experience. Within the confines of the Wave Pool are areas with gorgeous, colorful lights. I would advise to purchase your tickets ahead of time to save a few minutes waiting in line. They have hot chocolate, doughnut holes and cookies for sale. The hot chocolate is hot as FIRE, so beware if you have small kids. The event itself is self paced and there is ice skating available for additional price above the entrance ticket price. Please dress warm, and enjoy!

10 months ago Shawtie Lewisdescribed this experience as follows:

My husband and I love taking our grandson here. Tones of fun and the hours fly by. The food is great as well as the service.

5 years ago Jenna Fitzwhat can I say about this place?

This was an amazing event! Honestly it’s really only worth it if you go ice skating. The lights it’s self takes maybe 10 min to walk through we walked through them twice. Tons of photo opportunities. There’s a shop for kids to get light up toys as well. The skating was a ton of fun especially at night around the lights. Tickets include skate rentals. It is real ice. Was not crowded at all when we went. If you’re not good at skating no problem they have little walkers to push around and little kids can sit and ride them. Staff is very friendly and they watch over the ice for people who fall. I brought my 6 and 9 year old we had a great time

Food is also available inside park. I really liked it. Nice spot!!!!!!

What our travelers says:

9 months ago Another Jenny- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

The wave pool on a Thursday afternoon was very nice. Place is clean and there are a lot of life guards and plenty of seating. There are a couple of pools for the little ones along with a splash pad and slides for the bigger kids. Pizza was decent. There were dozens if not hundreds of summer camp kids if that matters.

1 year ago Elias Chelala (Chewy)- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Great Waves Waterpark is an absolute gem for families and friends looking for a fun day out! The water slides are thrilling, the wave pool is super fun, and the splash areas for kids are perfect for little ones. The park is clean, well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I also appreciated the shaded areas and picnic spots for when we wanted to relax and enjoy snacks. It does get a bit crowded on weekends, but that's expected for such a popular spot. Definitely a must-visit during the summer!

3 months ago Melyssa Robinsondescribed this experience as follows:

Really great place for kids! My 4 year old son LOVED it. Only downfall is the food and it’s prices. This would be a 5 star experience if you could bring your own food and if there were a few more shaded areas.

9 months ago Jee Jee- why does he think this place is on the list?

Visited the waterpark today with my daughters. I was warned not to go by my brother but we went anyways. Nice place for the family. However, the issue is it's managed poorly. a DPR Summer Camp visited the park and left a horrible mess! I would not want to leave my children in the hands of these people. However, I along with several other people informed the manager of the park, working in the first-aid area, when we realized no one from DPR was returning to clean their mess, that someone needed to clean the area. She didn't do anything about it, even though she said she would. The workers in the sweets store didn't do anything about it either, they just sat on counters and talked and ignored our pleas. I started to clean the area myself but my daughters stopped me. The owners of this property should really evaluate its managers and workers. They are making a really nice place, trifling and nasty. I'd visit again if it was cleaner and better managed. Get new management! These are the only pictures I uploaded. I have more. DPR Summer Camps should be ashamed of themselves! Great Waves Water Park, you should have done much better!

1 year ago Noemi Crespo Ricesaid the following about this gem:

My kids and I had a fantastic time at Great Waves park today. The park is very well kept, everything is in walking distance from each other and it was non stop fun. I wish they had a few more umbrellas out for families as the sun is a bit brutal out there. Food on site was good. Tasty fries and funnel cake was great as well. Dippin dots was a nice treat too. We will DEFINITELY be back! We got there at 1045. It is definitely better to get there early. Easypeasy parking and short line.

I think this is a fantastic spot in Alexandria. It’s always easy to find parking, and there’s a quick, pleasant walk right along the waterfront into Old Town Alexandria. The views are beautiful, I absolutely love this park, and there’s also a restroom available, which is a big plus.

9 months ago Michael Rhodovidescribed this experience as follows:

Great park under the WW Bridge and across from the National Harbour good for walking/jogging, picnics, fishing, even a little local American history to take in. The Virginia area was definitely more maintained vs the Maryland and DC areas (looked forgotten about). The lighthouse needs to be restored big time...this is a piece of our history that should be conserved.

1 year ago willku9000wrote only this about this place:

This is a really nice park. I have been here twice so far and both times I truly enjoyed walking around. I had no idea that all this was here, hidden underneath the Woodrow Wilson bridge and kinda just stumbled onto it the first time. I am so glad I did. There’s nice walking trails, a big open field, basketball courts, playgrounds, nice places to fish and even historical stuff like a big ship rudder DC Boundary Stones and an old lighthouse. Also despite being underneath the beltway it’s quite peaceful. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Even if you can't make it inside, a visit to the grounds of The George Washington Masonic National MemorialClick to open side panel for more information is well worth the trip! I arrived before 9:00 AM while the building was still closed, but I spent some time walking through the surrounding park area. The experience was wonderful despite the doors being locked. The memorial sits on a hill, offering an amazing, elevated view overlooking the city of Alexandria. It’s a very peaceful spot for a morning stroll. Highlights of the visit: Stunning Architecture: The neoclassical design of the memorial is incredibly impressive to see up close from the outside. Panoramic Views: One of the best vantage points in the area to see the layout of Alexandria. Beautiful Park: The green space around the memorial is well-maintained and perfect for a quiet walk. I haven't had the chance to see the museum or the observation deck yet, but the exterior and the park alone make it a 5-star stop. I'll definitely be back during opening hours to see the interior!

Lived in the area decades and never visited. Boy was I wrong. A beautiful tribute to George Washington. All are welcome, I am not a member but the tour was informative and interesting. Such rice history. The view from the top floor is spectacular. I highly recommend a visit. Don't wait as long as I did.

6 months ago Mina Zamanpoursaid the following about this gem:

Such a beautiful and historic landmark! The George Washington Masonic Memorial stands proudly over Alexandria and offers an amazing view from the top. The building itself is stunning, and the guided tour gives a lot of insight into both George Washington’s life and the Masonic history behind it. Peaceful, educational, and very well preserved — definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby.

Bummer of a time today, as I was very excited to explore and learn about Masons and GW’s involvement. Instead of learning about what Masons are and how meetings work and what their focus is, and how and why GW got involved, we were simply shuffled to each floor and told to look around. Each floor was vastly underwhelming, only a few notable pieces, such as a desk “thought to have been used by Washington.” They have a strand of his supposed hair, which is a big highlight apparently. With little explanation, we looked at bizarre costumes various masons and affiliate groups wear. View was nice, for $20 a hard pass. Wildly weird time. Wife is convinced this place is haunted. We live locally… any visitors reading this, skip unless you’re a Mason.

9 months ago Pepe Lepu: it is necessary to add to this place:

Very Clean. Affordable tours. Great view at top. If you like architecture, there is plenty to see and learn on first and second floor. You can see and tour all in about 3-4 hours. For the history buffs, a lot of insights can be learned from the tours, specifically on the upper floors. 2 Active lodges are located here. Solve the elevator mystery!

Such an absolute, fantastic, wonderful trip. My wife, myself and the pups spent an absolutely beautiful time in Old Town during New Years Eve. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Old Town Alexandria Waterfront is a fantastic spot to start your day! I visited in the morning, and it was such a peaceful and quiet area for a scenic walk. While the area really comes alive at night, the morning vibe is incredibly charming and historic. Why I love this area: Beautiful Walkways: The walkway along the water is my favorite part. It’s very well-maintained and offers stunning views of the river. Animal Friendly: It’s a great place to bring your pets along for a stroll; I saw plenty of people out with their dogs. Dining Options: There is a huge variety of cafeterias, cafes, and restaurants to choose from. Whether you want a quick coffee or a full meal, there are options for every mood. Charming Atmosphere: The blend of historic vibes with modern amenities makes it one of the best waterfronts in the region. Whether you are looking for a quiet morning reflection or a vibrant night out, this is a must-visit spot in Alexandria!

What our travelers says:

4 months ago Tori Bankswrote only this for this place:

My family decided to visit this escape room after reading the great reviews. We completed the Wizard’s Apothecary with kids ages 7, 9, 15, and 2 adults. We had a great time! The room was challenging but suitable for all ages. Christopher was our guide and was absolutely amazing. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

2 months ago Michael Schindler: it is necessary to add to this place:

Our team had a great time at Escape Room Live Alexandria! We did the Sherlock Holmes Moment In Time room. The room was very well designed and accented the Sherlock Holmes theme in multiple ways. If you're a fan of the books, you will enjoy many of the touches and inclusions in the room, such as his violin, drawings of birds, sample bottles, a boxing glove, and a walking stick (maybe Dr. Watson's?). For being contained to only one room, the puzzles were dense and kept us busy. For the most part, things progressed sequentially, but there were also multiple things to try and figure out or "wonder" about if a pair of us were intensely trying to figure out the current dilemma. Max did a great job as our guide through the room, providing us ever so slight nudges when we got slightly off track; we often found ourselves overthinking something obvious and doing a forehead smack collectively. We also got to peek in at the Apothecary Room while there, which looks really fantastic and detailed. We will assuredly come back for that one! The entire space is very inviting and feels very themed to the Old Alexandria style. The business fits the town well. Additionally, they have a lot of swag for purchase like metal pins and T-shirts specific to the room you escaped, a nice feature you don't see in many escape rooms. There were also other options for purchase including at home escape room kits, if you want to keep the fun going. Bottom line: great escape room, well-themed, challenging-but-not-impossible, and great staff. Highly recommend!
