What our travelers says:

2 years ago Виктория Зайцеваsaid the following about this gem:

It is immediately obvious that the temple is very old, as is the building next to it. Very beautiful interior, a lot of painting. But it’s a shame that we couldn’t go inside the temple. Photos had to be taken through the bars at the entrance.

6 years ago Michael Kishon- why does he think this place is on the list?

A beautiful Catholic Gothic church in the middle of old town Kosice. The interior of it is very impressive.

Humongous (but kinda hidden) church, not that big from outside, but I just did not like the echoing here

Numerically, he has the 9.6/10!. This place was visited and rated 253-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago Fabian Jöbstlwhat can I say about this place?

beautiful church in the heart of kosice. note the balconies on the second floor which were reserved for the aristocracy so that they don't have to sit with the peasants. snobs.

2 years ago Zsolt Mohosexplained best how he liked it:

A young beautiful and so cute lady explained every details. Fascinating place. Thank you!

3 years ago Boda Daniel-Mihaihow did he rate it?

Awesome experience, the priest let us in even if the church about to close. And he explains about the church history. There I heard one of the most beautiful gospel.

8 years ago Daniel Debreceniwhat can I say about this place?

Unique baroque church with beautiful interior.

6 years ago Michael Banikhow did he rate it?

Beautiful church. Interesting preaching.

8. place definitely deserves Urban's Tower

Urban's Tower
We rate 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 267-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago lichard gwhat can I say about this place?

This is an interesting place if you are interested in religion. You can understand a little bit about the history of the bell in front of the tower. There are no observation decks or windows from which you can see the city.

8 years ago Jano Lorincevaluates this place as follows:

One of the dominant structures in Košice. This hundreds of years old tower would benefit from some kind of renovation, but is still worth visiting - including the St.Urban Bell located outside on a small square. Inside is a small wax museum (historical figures from Košice).

2 years ago Ma Linkaexplained best how he liked it:

Nice historical place

2 years ago Olha Lapenkowrote only this about this place:

Velvetrun 24.06.2023. Grate day. More then 500 wumen was there.

7. place definitely deserves Mikluš prison

Mikluš prison
Numerically, he has the 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 298-times

What our travelers says:

3 years ago Javier Díaz Piñasaid the following about this gem:

If you want to know more about Kosice's history this stop is a must. Miklus Prison shows part of Slovakia history from the years 1200 and the following centuries. You can see weapons, cells, the kitchen and more in three different levels, including a subterranean one, all of this with the help of an audio guide in different languages and introductory video.

2 years ago AH Fsaid the following about this gem:

It's ok, the signs telling you what the exhibits are need to be in multi language, so all can understand. The audio guide needs to be in some kind of order. The ticketing needs to explain what you get for each price. I got the ticket that includes everything but nothing says once you've done this area got to here. All very disjointed would have been a lot better with better direction

6 years ago Debbieexplained best how he liked it:

Went to door of prison which was closed, so asked at the ticket office in executioners bastion and was told we could buy tickets there and she would let us in. So we did that, she let us in and put on a video for us to watch and explained how to use audio guides and then left us to our own devices so we wandered around the museum by ourselves. The museum is very interesting and has lots of interesting things to look at, I would recommend going. Cost is 4 euros for an adult.

2 years ago Vladimir Balazwhat can I say about this place?

Very cute

2 years ago Robert Haitschevaluates this place as follows:

Very interesting building, especially the cellar. Critics are only about the fact, that many information boards are just in slovak language, which is difficult to understand for a foreign tourist.

6. place definitely deserves Eastern Slovak Museum

Eastern Slovak Museum
We rate the place at 9/10!. This place was visited and rated 516-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago Fabian Jöbstl: it is necessary to add to this place:

Nice museum in town centre with exhibitions about propaganda, the kosice treasury and an old wooden church in the backyard. Usually the church is closed because of chemical reaction, but if you ask the staff nicely, they might open it up for u. But I was a bit disappointed, since I imagined some part about the rich history of eastern slovakia, but actually there was not much about that in the museum, also very little about the city itself. Worth mentioning is the exhibition about the history of the museum itself on the 3rd floor.

2 years ago Giacomo Nerozziexplained best how he liked it:

Very interesting museum with a permanent collection along with temporary exhibits. First we started with the visit to the Russian church rebuilt on the outside, then we moved underground for the astonishing collection of golden coins found in the center of Košice, which alone deserves a visit. Eventually we moved to upper floors, visiting a temporary exhibition about Baroque, another one about a contemporary artist and another one about the "Century of Propaganda": really a lot to see and learn from a single Museum! Setup is modern and well built. As other visitors have pointed out, explanations are only available in Slovak language, but with an ordinary smartphone everyone can get easy access to a translation. Catalogues can be bought from the reception at the entrance, for a very reasonable price.

2 years ago x devaluates this place as follows:

One of the worst museums I've ever been to. Except for the treasure part, so coins and so on, which was cool, there was nothing interesting there. Even the temporary exhibition about communism which I was interested in, didn't have the english translations. Really disappointing.

2 years ago Rae- why does he think this place is on the list?

Really interesting museum with lots of exhibits on different topics, including a huge find of gold coins.

2 years ago Rob Sonogaevaluates this place as follows:

Great museum. In the Vault there are several golden coins treasures , the middle part is the gothic exhibition and the top is the local folklore.Make sure you go out to see the wooden church in the back yard- it may be locked, but they will come to open it for you when you ask. Buy a thicket for all 4 museums ( valid for 2 days).

5. place deserves Fountain of signs

Fountain of signs
We rate 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 562-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago Olesiaexplained best how he liked it:

Nice looking fountain. There are carps in the water, but the water was quite dirty.

8 years ago Omry Meir: it is necessary to add to this place:

Nice place to stop and eat ice cream from one of the shops around.

4. place deserves Slovak Technical Museum

Slovak Technical Museum
We rate the place at 9/10!. This place was visited and rated 851-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago Robot Smiki: it is necessary to add to this place:

Great expositions of old scientific instruments, engineering tools and quirky old industrial design. Some very unique pieces, including an original enigma machine. Beautiful stuff. Also there is a large interactive science experience center full of interactive exhibits and games for kids. It is great.

2 years ago Anton Awrote only this about this place:

Great physics experiments for kids and family.

3 years ago Lenka Varcholovawrote only this about this place:

Perfect place. So many thongs to see. There they have Enigma too. And nany, many other things

2 years ago Miroslav “eMPi” Potocky: it is necessary to add to this place:

Small on the outside but big on inside. Very nice interactive exposition for kids. Phone and typewriter exposition was best!

6 years ago Norm Bour -Travel Younger- why does he think this place is on the list?

It's a mish mash of many different scientific areas and there is no rhyme or reason. From metallurgy to old telephones to electrical devices to dentistry, the building is like a maze just meandering from room to room. Even so it's worth 5 euros but know going in that only about 1/3 of the exhibits are translated to English!

3. place gets Jakab Palace

Jakab Palace
We rate the place at 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 1416-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago Fabian Jöbstlevaluates this place as follows:

beautiful building between old town and Main Station with interesting history. Built by industrialist more than a hundred years back, it was bought by a jewish person before wwII. a few decades back the offsprings of this person claimed ownership and now a lawsuit is pending back and forth between this person and the government. since this lawsuit is far from finished, this wonderful building sadly remains closed to the public and can only be admired from outside

2 years ago R. AGUS- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

It's a castle, but it looks like Catholic church..... But it's close to the Public. This Structure is next to the Beautiful Park. I wish I could enter the building.

2 years ago paula alexandra onutawhat can I say about this place?

Unfortunately this place cannot be visited 😥 due to a legal battle between a previous owner and local council (as we found out during the walking tour). Great building but you'll have to make do with seeing it from the outside only.

2 years ago Pieter van Middendescribed this experience as follows:

A special building that can unfortunately only be viewed from the outside. It also seems to me to be in a somewhat neglected state and the location is unfortunately close to a major road.

3 years ago John Lambert-Smithdescribed this experience as follows:

A once in a decade chance to see inside this historic building. Needs significant input to restore it to its former glory. It's a beautiful building in a prime location.

2. place is occupied by The Singing Fountain

The Singing Fountain
We rate 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 2629-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago Dumitrita Mihai- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

An amazing place where you can relax. The entire old town of Kosice looks amazing and it’s a great place to visit.

4 years ago Steven charlesworth- why does he think this place is on the list?

Good place to watch but was very surprised 😮 to hear east enders sound track playing best time to visit is at night time when all the lights are on you get a better view in the dark there is plenty off seats around to take the weight off your feet and also plenty of ice cream shops around the fountain ⛲ is ok but nor as good as the ones in Barcelona that is the best one in the world

4 years ago Mirandia Berthold- why does he think this place is on the list?

Beautiful park and fountain that’s super calming to sit and just watch. Music plays along with it, as it is the singing fountain, which makes it a wonderful experience. Nice place to sit and just enjoy the day, especially when there is a slight breeze. It’s a must see, when you come to the city. If you are a geocacher there is a fun geocache here too.

4 years ago Filip Fischer: it is necessary to add to this place:

Very nice fountain and park around to relax. However, there’s no singing just loud instrumental “hotel lift” music playback disrupting this idyllic spot in the centre of the old town. No synchronisation. “Až na hudbu všetko super.”

8 years ago Omry Meirwhat can I say about this place?

I recommend visit also at night when you can also see the nice lights. Nothing special, but don't miss when in Kosice.

1. place - St. Elisabeth's Cathedral

St. Elisabeth's Cathedral
We rate 9.6/10!. This place was visited and rated 6629-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago Виктория Зайцева- why does he think this place is on the list?

A very beautiful cathedral. It amazes with its gothic, upward-looking interior. The cathedral is very huge. You can look at it endlessly. Especially outside there are many sculptures and bas-reliefs.

2 years ago Márcio Ngombe: it is necessary to add to this place:

Good site for a quick visit (around 30min. counting the tower), unless you're a devout Catholic. Then, time is of no importance. The biggest plus is that the tower is reportedly the highest place in Košice, so you get a nice view from the top. We went up the tower with our three children, but I would not advise it for children under 6-7 (except if you want to do a quick workout, or learn patience and endurance). The remainder of the church is child-friendly and some zones are handicap accessible. You should, however, be mindful of the people praying in the pews.

2 years ago Theodora Ispaswrote only this for this place:

The church has amazing architecture and decorations. You can also visit the tower and enjoy the view, but you need to climb many stairs. It totally worths it.

2 years ago Peter Herkawrote only this about this place:

It is definitively a number one must see when visiting Košice. Question is, which tickets are worth of buying, as this cathedral offers various combination. There are no guided tours available at weekends, so we bought whole cathedral (5 eur) plus entry to neighboring chappel of st. Michael. Included crypts in cathedral are nothing special, but access to two towers is definitely worth of buying whole package tour/ticket.
