What our travelers says:

1 year ago Anna Augustinováevaluates this place as follows:

Beautiful and diverse paintings on a piece of history, really fun to see, very picturesque, and for free! My only issue was how touristy it was there but I suppose that's to be expected from such a notable place. What I appreciate, though, was how respectful other people were when taking pictures - they'd politely wait until you took your pictures and only then they would walk by. Very nice! Another detail I liked about the wall was that there were names of the paintings and artists written in front of the paintings.

11 months ago Brendan Cahillwhat can I say about this place?

A Great History of the Nazi era in Germany from 1933 to 1945. There are two museums at this location ,one outside and the other inside . The outside one is covered partially by a polycarbonate roof. The inside museum There are a lot of permanent exhibitions displayed in this large museum. At the entrance to this museum, there is a section of the old Berlin Wall still standing here. A great place to visit if you are interested in the history of the Third Reich.

1 year ago Mark B- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

This is an extremely comprehensive and FREE museum on the site of the former German SS and Gestapo police forces during WW2. The indoor portion is very detailed and provides many photos and artifacts of the rise of the brutal police state via massive control of propaganda and terror. This will take you at least 1 hour to properly digest with the audio guide on your phone. The outdoor portion complements this with more of a summary timeline presented against the backdrop of the Berlin Wall and trench. I recommend at least 90 minutes to get a good sense of the museum but probably more like 2-3 hours.

11 months ago Pavel Tcholakov- why does he think this place is on the list?

Very moving exhibit that I would rate as must-see for any Berlin visitor! The phone-based free audio guide tour was excellent, make sure to bring your earphones.

1 year ago Fraulein Bee: it is necessary to add to this place:

This place is very educational. I learned a lot. You just need some time, reading all, if not some of the text on the wall/board. It also seemed so quiet on this place. The museum is free of charge.

Berlin Wall Memorial
We rate 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 39971-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago Matthew Allenexplained best how he liked it:

Wow, defiantly should make a stop to come here. Words can not describe the feelings you have while being this close to something of such historical significance. Free museum with toilet on the floor -1. 4-6 floors up is an observation deck that let's you look at how the barrier was during the 70's. Great place to spend a day.

11 months ago Juan Uribewrote only this about this place:

This seems like a very accurate recreation of how the wall existed in its original form. With memorials for the fallen trying to cross, explanations of how the ‘kill zone’ worked and existed. Various stories of hearbreaking separation and tactics to stop eastern Berliners from escaping to the west. The Reconciliation sculpture is beautiful.

1 year ago Rahul Deywrote only this for this place:

The Berlin Wall Memorial is a poignant testament to history. Its evocative exhibits and preserved segments offer a profound insight into the horrors of the world war. A must-visit for those seeking a powerful and educational experience.

1 year ago Rima Nurlianti- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

A good start to getting to know Berlin — especially East and West Berlin during World War 2 — is to walk around the area for an hour or so. This historical site is really interesting and informative through story narration along the way in this area.

1 year ago Raphaelexplained best how he liked it:

The Berlin Wall Memorial is an integral part of German history. A tour of this historic site gives you a deeper understanding and insight into Cold War in Berlin. You can see the remarkable remains of the Berlin Wall which divided East Germany and West Germany. There’s so much information to absorb here, if you have enough time. Reading the notes which are also translated in English will give you firsthand information on the exact monument you’re looking at. If you’re a lover of history, you’ll like it here.

8. place belongs to Berliner Fernsehturm

Berliner Fernsehturm
We rate 8.8/10!. This place was visited and rated 41717-times

What our travelers says:

10 months ago Peter Thompson- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

We booked a window seat in advance at the restaurant which gave us the great views in the spinning restaurant (full cycle in 30 minutes). We had a decent meal to go along with 90 minutes or so of great evening views across Berlin. Well worth going to and i would book the restaurant again. We were able to go to the viewing platform on the floor below as part of the experience, but busier times this may not be allowed.

1 year ago Adam Gloversaid the following about this gem:

Amazing views from this iconic structure. A fast lift carries you to the viewing deck, with window on top of the lift to see the rate of ascent! Views guided by an informative series of pictures mapping out key locations and buildings. Bar area is part of the viewing gallery. The sky restaurant is the level above. Tickets can be bought in advance or from a machine at the entrance, with an entry time linked to the ticket number. Queue for the lift to get up and down did take a while but there was no pressure to rush once up there, and you could take as long as you wanted to enjoy the view.

1 year ago Samuel Vaz- why does he think this place is on the list?

Iconic place in Berlin, a must-see if you're around. Without thinking about the iconic status, the price could be a bit better, it's 25€ for the most basic ticket. Booking online is highly recommended because the lines can get long and they have time slots. When entering the building you're presented with a large area with some stairs that goes into the elevators and some plaques explaining the history of this tower, construction and purpose. The lifts are very quick (you feel it in your ears) and take roughly 8-10 people at the time and there's 2 of them. Basically the waiting time to board them is quite short but always dependent on how many people are in line. Once you arrive at the top you're greeted with stunning 360 ° views of the city and because you're way up there, you'll see past the city as well. In every window there's a plaque with photos detailing what you're seeing with a brief explanation of each landmark/building. There's also a restaurant one floor above and a bar which are great additions to this place. Highly recommend!

11 months ago Stephen Claxton: it is necessary to add to this place:

Amazing view, we happened on a clear sunny day and the view was spectacular. Expensive, but worth it. Plenty of signs explaining the landmarks you can see from the window. We booked tickets online, so it was as easy as scanning the barcode from our phone to get in.

11 months ago Bryan Rubiwrote only this about this place:

We bought the tickets online the night before. Best to buy the ticket advance or very early in the morning. We bought the package for breakfast for 35€ but for us the breakfast wasn't really worth it. The line goes fast, no long wait even if you buy the ticket the same day. Buy online or at the counter or a machine outside the building. Only in the restaurant, Inside the floor rotates slowly.

7. place deserves Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe

Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
We give 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 44496-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago david randellini: it is necessary to add to this place:

an installation of approximately 2700 concrete blocks all equally long but differently tall. I wasn't very impressed, perhaps because there were many people, some sitting or lying on top of the blocks. I know there is also an underground part but I haven't seen it.

1 year ago Annie Itsameeewrote only this for this place:

A great way to physically show the next generations the importance of history and why we should always learn from it. Situated actoss from the American embassy with blocks representing age of victims and the design intentionally disorientating once inside it in order to convey the fear experienced by the Jewish community it is dedicated to.

11 months ago Melanie Hughes- why does he think this place is on the list?

A wonderful memorial and museum that is like nothing I have ever seen. Every stone is different and wandering along the rows not only captivates you but also disorientates you too. The museum is free for visitors and very interesting.

1 year ago Jayden Stuckeyevaluates this place as follows:

The most confronting museum I’ve ever visited! Take your time, read the stories, fair warning you’ll likely be pretty sad / angry when you leave the museum.. Recommend paying the €4 for the audio guide with more information

1 year ago Gunelsaid the following about this gem:

The monument consists of “The Holocaust memorial” and underground museum. Strongly recommend to visit museum before entering the Memorial itself. Free entry, just 20-30minutes waiting time in a queue which is worth. Attn! Museum is not for children.

6. place gets East Side Gallery

East Side Gallery
We rate the place at 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 51836-times

What our travelers says:

11 months ago Kyriakos Toulgaridis: it is necessary to add to this place:

Historic place, one of the last pieces of the Wall of Berlin that is still in the original location. Amazing artworks from various graffiti artists. The best part, it's open air and free to visit. Just try to arrive a bit early so that you don't have to wait in order to take pictures Such a pity that they allowed property development literally on top of this monument. But I guess money makes the world go around and Berlin officials are obviously notorious money grabbers.

11 months ago nail çağrı yıldırımevaluates this place as follows:

Visiting the East Side Gallery was an unforgettable experience. The vibrant and thought-provoking murals displayed on remnants of the Berlin Wall were not only artistically impressive but also deeply moving. Walking along this historic landmark was a powerful reminder of the resilience and spirit of unity. A must-see for anyone interested in art, history, and the human spirit.

11 months ago Michaela Morganwrote only this for this place:

Went on a wet Monday evening as part of our 24 hours in Berlin. It was well lit so we didn’t miss out by visiting in the evening. Easily accessible by train.

1 year ago Mehrdadevaluates this place as follows:

It’s part of the history that worth visiting while you’re at Berlin. This place is less exciting compared to to lots of other museums that you find here. But if you had extra time, definitely go for it. There are some free street parking available, if not you can on the other side of the bridge.

1 year ago Katerina Pikouliexplained best how he liked it:

The East Side Gallery in Berlin is like a time-traveling street art history lesson. This stretch of the Berlin Wall is covered in awesome graffiti that tells a powerful story of unity beating division. Seriously, every mural is like a punch in the feels. It's emotional, man! When you go, just know it can get crazy busy, so maybe hit it up when the crowds aren't as nuts for a more chill vibe.

5. place deserves KaDeWe - Kaufhaus des Westens

KaDeWe - Kaufhaus des Westens
Definitely deserves 8.6/10!. This place was visited and rated 53726-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago moe asafexplained best how he liked it:

I highly recommend the KaDeWe for those looking for a top-notch shopping experience. This mall offers a wide variety of stores and amenities, making it a one-stop destination for all your shopping needs. However, be prepared for prices on the higher side. If you're willing to splurge a bit, it's the perfect place to indulge in luxury and find unique items. The food court offers a good variety of choices as well, with a nice view over Berlin.

11 months ago Batu Erogluexplained best how he liked it:

The mall is very nicely decorated and the design is awesome. You can find pretty much anything you’re looking for since they have plenty of options with every floor having a different theme. Of course it’s pricey but you know that if you’re visiting this mall. Very luxurious brands, with a food floor with many option like pizza and desserts.

11 months ago Tonywrote only this about this place:

All the premium brands that you would expect from a high end department store but nowhere near the famous department stores in London. TOILET WARNING Almost all pubic toilets in Berlin have an attendant that will charge you to use the toilet. This is NOT a compulsory charge and you DO NOT have to pay. (Watch the locals ) My advice would be, if you feel the toilet is cleaned to a high standard then tip the amount that you feel is deserved on your way out.

10 months ago Jeremías Padilla- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

We did not get to speak to any sales associate since nobody was manning the Hermès beauty counter which was a shame as we were looking to buy a present. The store is, nonetheless, beautiful. Loved the breakfast options on the top floor.

1 year ago Katja R.said the following about this gem:

The KaDeWe is just part of the history of Berlin. An elegant department store like hardly no other. It has become more exclusive and I can't really afford shopping here anymore, but the 6th floor has still fantastic restaurants and food. Remodeled the last few years there is less grocery shopping, but more interesting restaurants of all kinds of foods, coffee, tea, champagne, etc. Of course all rather exclusive as well, but a great experience. Some are more modern set up, some have still compfy charm. Definitely check out the KaDeWe when visiting Berlin.

Modern business architecture. Wd not put it on the first spots of my Berlin bucket list. But hey - it’s impressive - a newly built quarter in the heart of a city - u don’t find everywhere!

1 year ago Mario Milovanovicevaluates this place as follows:

Perfect place for beer lovers. Food is great match with beer and also there are some traditional dishes. Beer is fresh and tastes soo good. Service is friendly and fast. There is version of menu in English for foreigners. Deserts are not my cup of tea, I would recommend another beer instead 😊 Garden is really nice so if you can chose, visit when weather is nice.

Probably the cleanest place in all of Berlin. Super upscale area with some good options for food, not much else tho which isn't bad at all.

3. place is occupied by Berlin Zoological Garden

Berlin Zoological Garden
Definitely deserves 9/10!. This place was visited and rated 61034-times

What our travelers says:

11 months ago Cresentsmile- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Wonderful Zoo filled with so much space, plenty of well utilized areas for the many species of animals. There's zebras, giraffes, lions, tigers, and so much more! You could tell all the animals were well cared for and were in appropriate places such as darker or lighter areas. It's great for all ages and there's plenty of restaurants, and a decent sized gift shop.

1 year ago hhsaraiyawrote only this for this place:

A very big zoo right in heart of the city Berlin. We visited the place on Wednesday afternoon. It was not so busy...very small line for ticket, not very crowded inside also. There are lots of birds and animal inside the zoo and the facility to accommodate them is also very good. As a result one has to walk too much to vist all of them. Detail map is there to help you understand the lay out of the zoo. Some of the cages were empty as some renovation work was going on or some animals were not available at that point of time but such were very less instances considering the size of the zoo. So no complaints on that front. It took almost 3.5 hours to finish it without visiting aquarium(They charge it separately for aquarium). Overall good experience especially for children they were excited to see so many different species of animal. Do recommend it. But be prepared to walk. Enjoy.

11 months ago Fernando Torreswhat can I say about this place?

Amazing afternoon in the zoo. Plenty of animals to see in open and indoor areas. Totally worthy. You will enjoy each second of the visit. I bought the combination tickets for the zoo and the aquarium but it is totally unworthy. The aquarium is small and absolutely not a big thing.

1 year ago moe asafsaid the following about this gem:

Berlin Zoo is a must-visit attraction for animal lovers and tourists alike. This historic zoo, located in the heart of Berlin, offers a diverse range of animals and exhibits. The enclosures are well-maintained, providing spacious and natural environments for the animals. The highlight for many visitors is the impressive panda exhibit, home to adorable giant pandas. The zoo also houses various big cats, primates, and a wide variety of birds and reptiles. It's a family-friendly destination with educational programs and plenty of informative signage. While it can get crowded, the overall experience is enjoyable, making it a great place to spend a day exploring the animal kingdom.

1 year ago Erik Reynoldsdescribed this experience as follows:

Amazing zoo! You'll need at least 5 or 6 hours to get through MOST of it. It's the smaller zoo, but it's still quite big. Some enclosures seemed to be roomy enough, others the animals seemed stressed because it was a small enclosure. The grounds were well kept, and it was VERY clean. Plenty of shade, snacks and animals.

I would have given 5 stars 🌟 for this very important site in history if not for the many vendors selling their knock off wears of the Cold War. It would be great to have it just as it is. In any case we loved being there as its another bucket list visit

10 months ago John Calder- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Interesting place. Very commercial with souvenir shops every where. Be care crossing the street as there are no lights and bikes/cars have the right of way.

1 year ago Nicola Downey- why does he think this place is on the list?

An iconic part of Berlin's history- very busy area with tourists so may need to wait to get photo taken at the hut. Lots of information boards around the area and photos from before the fall of the wall. Lots of touristy souvenir shops in area and the Checkpoint hsrlie Museum ( very worth a visit!)

Definitely a place to visit if you are in Berlin. It's mainly a shopping hub with lots of stores around. There are several restaurants too for grabbing some food however, those are not the best in the city. The TV tower (one of the most famous landmarks in Berlin) is also situated there. There are also lots of street performers entertaining people.

1 year ago Stavros Charalambous: it is necessary to add to this place:

Very nice lively and clean. The amount of people gathering at this public square is astonishing. Many cafeterias restaurants all the major clothing brands and pubs. On some days they have festivals or events and it's very interesting.
