4 months ago Brandon Simssaid the following about this gem:

A nice seafood delight. Everyone ordered something different and each fish had great flavor and cooked well. The vegetables weren’t the freshest, but still good. Salmon, sole, kingfish, squid all unique I their own way. The paella was quite tasty, and savoring the langoustines on top was a treat. Thank you.

7 months ago AM- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

We randomly discovered this place, and I’m so glad we walked in! The food was bursting with flavor, the portions were generous, and the service was both fast and genuinely friendly. If you want delicious food, good value, and a warm atmosphere, this is a must-try!

6 months ago Alperen Tekinhow did he rate it?

This is a seafood restaurant located at the heart of the city centre. As someone who lived in Málaga for a year, I can confidently say that Los Mellizos is the best seafood restaurant in the city. The quality is always outstanding, everything is fresh, perfectly prepared. Their paella, fried fish, and other seafood dishes never disappoint, and the portions are generous. Prices are a little on the higher side, but I think the quality fully justify it. So, if you want to eat seafood the way locals do, Los Mellizos is absolutely the place to go.

6 months ago Kellidescribed this experience as follows:

So excited to find a place that serves paella. Upon arrival they must’ve been switching servers because we got the wine fast but we didn’t get the paella for at least another hour. They were nice to recognize it and offer us a pepper and shrimp salad, but it takes away from the experience. I hope for those coming here For a good lunch. It doesn’t take three hours like it did with us. I would recommend but only three stars.

5 months ago Ece Tsaid the following about this gem:

We had the della casa paella for two, and it was quite delicious. It’s definitely enough if you’re not extremely hungry, so you don’t really need to order much more. The staff were very friendly, but there was a bit of disorganization, we asked for the bill three times to different waiters and still had to wait about 15 minutes. Not a big problem, but worth mentioning.

3 months ago Sel Levaluates this place as follows:

Great vibes. Very crowded with no table service. You’d have to order and pay at the bar. This seems to be a place with mostly locals. Everyone was having fun - eating , drinking and dancing. Food was delicious, especially shrimp skewer Bread was a bit stale but I wasn’t too bothered by it Waitress was very friendly and patient with taking my order in English. If you’re ok with noise, self-service and crowd.. I’d say go for it.. you will walk out with a fully and happy belly. Price was reasonable in my opinion So glad I went to this bar.

4 months ago Sharonhow did he rate it?

I got the tip from a local. Very friendly staff. The bartender, in particular, is incredibly kind and attentive. The atmosphere is truly Spanish. A authentic interior, cozy, crowdy and noisy. Just the way you want it. The oxtail was divine and buttery soft.

5 months ago Lee Walker- why does he think this place is on the list?

This was a very popular and lively bar when we visited. The atmosphere was great, the music was loud and the singing was really bad, we loved it. There's the usual selection of tapas but we were there just for drinks. We had some really nice sweet sherry and nice cold beer, just what we needed in the heat of the day. The bill was added-up in chalk on the bar, something we've seen in other bars. A very authentic Spanish tapas bar with lots of character, well worth a visit.

4 months ago j yexplained best how he liked it:

Very busy local place with menu all in Spanish - a bit daunting to walk in but the staff was welcoming and the food so tasty!! Especially loved the pork (magro al Pedro Ximénez), jamón croquetas, and super refreshing vino dulce de Barril. Thank you for the great vibes!

5 months ago Rob Landerswrote only this about this place:

A Local Gem in Malaga – Bar La Tranca I almost don't want to write this review, just to keep this place a bit of a secret for the locals. But credit where credit’s due. Bar La Tranca was hands-down our favorite spot to eat and drink in Málaga. We ended up coming here five times during our six-day stay, and honestly, nothing else quite measured up. The Highs: Staff: The women running the bar are absolute pros. Even when the place was packed (which it often was), they somehow managed to stay on top of everything — drinks, food, service — all with a smile and an energy that was genuinely fun to watch. There’s clearly a strong sense of teamwork behind the bar, and it shows. Food: Every dish we tried was a hit. Personal favorites: the rabo de toro, pincho de langostino, pincho de chorizo, and gildas. One miss — and totally our fault — was the toasta de melva. Neither of us are fans of tuna, and we didn’t realize that’s what it was. Chalk it up to our rusty Spanish. Drinks: The Victoria beer on tap was ice cold and just right after a day of walking the city. My partner loved the vermut, and there was a sangria-like drink she ordered a few times that we still can’t remember the name of, but it was delicious. Great local wine options too. Whether you’re into beer, wine, or cocktails, there’s something here for you. Ambiance: This is exactly how I imagined a true Andalusian tapas bar to feel. Music loud enough to set the mood, but not so loud you can’t talk. Even when it’s crowded (and it will be), it never feels chaotic. It’s warm, intimate, and just has that special vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. La Tranca is a happy place. The Lows: Honestly? None come to mind.

8. place definitely deserves Antigua Casa de Guardia

Antigua Casa de Guardia
We rate the place at 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 10152-times

What our travelers says:

3 months ago Vivienne Boltexplained best how he liked it:

This is one of the oldest bars in Malaga. 300 years old, I believe, and like stepping back in time. Big tourist attraction. The wine is served from kegs behind the bar. They write what you have had, on the bar, in chalk and you pay at the end. Outstanding tapas too. Amazing seafood, meats and cheeses. A must visit, when in Malaga.

4 months ago Simonblondewrote only this for this place:

It is said that Málaga has two Cathedrals - the first is the Church, the second is the Bodega Antigua Casa de Guardia. Founded in 1840 by leading winemaker Don Jose de la Guardia, the Antigua casa de Guardia is one of the most authentic places in Málaga you will find and the oldest wine bar in Málaga. They even received a Royal Warrant from Queen Isabel II. The tavern breathes an authentic love of wine. It still retains an authentic, old-world charm with wooden barrels and antique décor, customs and climate, and it really is a place where it really seems like time has stopped, and you have been transported back in time. Life goes on here at the local bar as 180 years ago, and the bills still are written in chalk on the bar counter. Over the years it has been frequented by Royalty, Celebrities and the Rich and Famous (there are pictures of Picasso and others on the wall). In fact anyone who visits Málaga, comes here! You'll find there old wooden barrels of wine sweet, young and mature, as Pajarete, Guinda, Moscatel Seco Trasanejo, Lagrima Anejo, Pedro Ximenes, which are produced in local vineyards. Their flavour certainly warrants served in the traditional manner, seafood - shrimp, mussels, lobster, and Iberian meats. The smell of wine, the old barrels and the bustle will remind you of taverns that you have heard about but of which there are very few left to enjoy

5 months ago Ben Franco Iglesiassaid the following about this gem:

Nothing is more authentic than this century old bodega, where the specialties are finos (sherry wines), vermouth and muscatel (as well as boiled shrimps and mussels). Old school waiters will serve you in the most old fashioned style, writing down your tab directly on the bar’s counter using a chalk. Simply a time travel to old Malaga. Must experience when visiting. 👌 🍷

7 months ago Sarit Shahexplained best how he liked it:

A great place to visit, the tavern is a good experience to try. All wines were served from large barrels, waiters would write the cost using chalk on the table. Cheap wine, tried red and white. All were flavourful and you could taste the difference.

7 months ago JBD “Super Coach” Dukesaid the following about this gem:

If you can find it, then it is worth the journey for the experience of a typical Spanish standing bar with many happy locals enjoying the banters and happy cheers. A must to see, and be at... your invoice is written on the bar..a good old fashioned practice in Spain. Many thanks Antigua Casa de Guardia!

Such a cosy and lovely place with visually highly inviting food with vegan alternatives! And the service crew is absolutely friendly and talkative, speaking English too, which is important for me to communicate. I ordered a decaf cappuccino with oat milk and a chocolate orange cake, both so yummy!! Thanks for this🙏😋

Very good! Our first breakfast in Spain. We got the omelette, latte, matcha latte, orange chocolate cake, and orange juice. Everything was very good!! The cake was a little dry but great flavor. The orange juice was amazing. Neither of us normally like orange juice and we really liked this one. Service was also great, very nice people!

Nothing but great. Home roasted coffee just from source from next door - you can buy it together like we did. Simple and tasty food and very clever of coffee maintenance. You order and pay inside and take a engraved number to your table. Service is really fast and nice. Best at the end. Chairs. You can have best coffee in town but if you have shitty chairs is just for nothing. They chose a super comfortable chairs from Nardi - my favourite Italian brand. Bravo. If you combine the best chairs with the best coffee in the town, you can’t lose. We love this place ❤️ and spend here all our mornings. Dana & David

average size shopping centre with a selection of nice and niche stores ranging from food courts and clothing stores to insurance companies. overall the stores were kept very neat and organized. the mall itself felt a bit old and there were multiple spots where it dripped from the ceiling when it was raining

The Carrefour is in this center, this is all you need to know :) usually quite crowded on Saturday, but it is relevant for all shopping centres. Also there is a cinema, but movies only in Spanish, no VOSE option :(

8 years ago Marisa Sepúlveda- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

It used to be one of the first shopping centres in Malaga, now Rosaleda is a little decadent but still has relevant places for shoppinh such as C&A, Decathlon and Carrefour. Cinemas don't have OSV and I only would recommend it for locals. A few places for breakfast and tapas and a really big parking lot.

What our travelers says:

4 months ago FTFhow did he rate it?

Casa Lola completely lives up to the hype! We came here based on recommendations and it did not disappoint. It serves authentic Spanish tapas with incredible energy. We tried a variety of tapas and everything was fantastic. The espetos de sardinas were a standout, perfectly grilled and full of flavor. The boquerones en vinagre were fresh and zingy, and the tortilla española was amazing. It's popular and you might have to wait for a spot, but it's 100% worth it. The service was fast despite the crowds. We'll definitely be back!

4 months ago Phy Phy: it is necessary to add to this place:

I ordered a glass of Sangria, a skewer of prawn and Canelon berenjena ( a grilled eggplant on a bread). The drink comes soon but the food takes ages to come. The Sangria is the expensive one I have after visited 5 cities in Spain but the taste is the worse one, like chemical drinks or from a bottle of cheap priced ready made Sangria from supermarket. Prawns is average. Eggplant is ok but the bread is very hard, I can’t totally chew it. Service: staff is quickly take order and give you the checks, very cool, no greetings. When I checked the food from the google map with the staff for my order. He told me they don’t offer it and customer may confused the store as there are 5 Casa Lola in Malaga. There’s no wonder why some high score placed here - it’s a mistake! The worst thing is when I back to hotel and translate the items on my bill, find that they count a basket of bread on my bill, I never order it and I haven’t get it. It’s very frustrating! Not recommended. Vibe? Boring.

4 months ago Terra Scottexplained best how he liked it:

When me and my friend were in Malaga Spain, this past summer, our tour guide suggested this place. It was really good. Service was a little slow, but that’s completely normal in Spain. You definitely have to always ask for your check when in Europe. The vibe inside was really energetic and really fun. It seems like everyone was day drinking and just having a good old time. It was my friend‘s birthday so we definitely joined in the party! Everything we had was delicious! And my friend even got a few birthday shots and a complementary birthday dessert. I highly recommend!

My best friend recommended Casa Lola as his favorite tapas place in Malaga… and I am very happy he did! I loved their food. Such an overwhelming choice but everything was perfect. I also tried their vermouth and loved it. The place is super popular and during dinner time I observed a big queue of people waiting for a table, so try to get there early, luckily I didn’t have to wait at all! The service was nice, too. The prices are fair.

We know that over time, these establishments often lose their quality, but this is not the case here. The quality and service are exceptional. You'll be satisfied no matter what you order, if you know what you're looking for. Above all, order the sweet wine, especially their most famous sweet orange wine; it pairs beautifully with their dishes. Enjoy!

5 months ago G Macdescribed this experience as follows:

This bar is apparently 49% owned by Antonio Banderas. It seems to be a collection of spaces, including two indoor areas and the outside covered Terrace that we enjoyed. Many of our group stayed for a meal and said it was superb. It situation in the old town is perfect as it is directly in front of the old Roman amphitheatre. Went to this Bodega as we were looking for a place to eat lunch and have a rest. We were able to get a seat on the patio and service was prompt and efficient. Super delicious food and wine and historical nice interior. You can enjoy your meal with Alcazaba view. Don’t expect a very good service, you need to pay attention to catch the waitresses. Due to very good food and the view, we visited the place multiple times.

5 months ago Mark Lenahandescribed this experience as follows:

Busy Busy Busy at 7: PM. Managed to get a table for 1 inside. Great food. The servers really hustle and do a great job. Very picturesque interior with various rooms, including (at least 1) barroom that was vacant upon my arrival but bustling by 8:15. I came specifically for the ajoblanco and it was very good with a seasonal fruit sorbet. Be prepared! The menu is only available through QR code but it does have a handy (necessary?) feature that you can check off what you want and it will translate it for the waiter. The waiter tried to tell me that I was ordering too much, which I appreciate but I went ahead anyway.

A great shopping centre. Plenty of well known shops, loads of parking at a reasonable price, nice location. In April there are beautiful blossom type trees outside the main entrance, gorgeous. It's spotless everywhere, nice and spacious so you don't get squashed during busy periods

This is a big shopping centre just outside of Málaga. When I was there I enjoyed walking around the shops and I especially liked the massive Primark in the centre. There is also a supermarket in the basement and a Burger king by the main entrance. If you are looking for a shopping experience in the Costa del Sol then this is the centre for you. Please note that this centre is a 3 minute walk from Málaga main train station and is about a 15 to 20 minute walk away from the main Málaga city centre.

We bought a large chicken & salad stuffed bocadillo at El Capriche by one of the entances for €6 compared to £18 at the airport. The whole place was heaving at midday. Good time to visit is 10 am when the stands are properly set up. The prices are similar on each stand. Card payments are accepted.

Mercado de Atarazanas – Flavors and Finds in the Heart of Málaga A beautiful market hall, perfectly located in Málaga’s pedestrian zone. It offers a great selection of fresh fish, meat, and especially vegetables. If you're looking for a quick bite, there are plenty of options – from tapas to freshly squeezed juices. We also found some lovely souvenirs to take home: local specialties, spices, and small delicacies. The market is well-organized by product type, making it easy to explore. A great spot to experience the culinary soul of the city

Fantastic market. We arrived just shy of 4pm when lunch service at the seafood bars was closing but was still able to get some amazing oysters, sea urchin and prawns. So so fresh and packed with locals so we knew we were in the right place. Would return in a heartbeat and arrive a little earlier. One of the highlights of the trip. Bartender will double check price of seafood with you prior to cooking and can prepare according to your tastes, e.g., raw, grilled, fried.

The seafood section stood out with its incredibly fresh smell, a clear sign of top-quality produce. A must-visit spot for anyone who enjoys local flavors and authentic market vibes!
