Family owned business, very nice staff, best pistachio croissant ever in fact everything I tasted there was amazing🥰. Do not miss this spot when visiting Alghero.

9 months ago Jamila Shah- why does he think this place is on the list?

I was here with my kids and it was a great experience. The café was lovely and had a lot of charm. We had some amazing ice coffees and some tasty baked goods. The owner was very nice and helpful. We walked around in the neighbourhood afterwards and could not find a taxi or a bus and ended up going back to the café to ask for directions to the nearest taxi stand. Both he and some of the customers were so very helpful and called the taxi company immediately. I would really recommend this lovely little spot if you are in Alghero ❤️

I requested a customised cake for my birthday and they did it perfectly, tasty cake! Great customer service and support from them. Recommend them to try and taste their pastries!

1 year ago Drew Bouchieexplained best how he liked it:

Finding Royal Alghero has been one of the highlights of my time in Alghero. I can easily say that they serve the best pastries I've ever had. Everyday there is an unique selection of treats that never seems to disappoint. The cornetto di albicocca, torta melinda, fritelle, and diplomatico are all amazing. Best of all is their girella viennese which is without a doubt a must try in Alghero. Alessio, Stefano, and Antonio are all extremely welcoming and talented at creating a perfect cafe atmosphere. As an American studying in Alghero this summer, the staff has been extremely welcoming and has treated me just like family from the very first day. Also, being a bit outside of the old town, it is free of tourists and is very reasonably priced. Royal Alghero is well worth the visit!!

We came later in the day so the options were limited, but what we had was really delicious. Fresh and homemade pastries were very delicious we especially loved the custard cream. Staff was very pleasant and informative

What our travelers says:

3 weeks ago Marijana Zanetic- why does he think this place is on the list?

Our experience was more than wonderful. Domenico is an excellent host who gave us to try 2 different types of white wines before we decided for one. We also had the small platter of local cheese and salami which was extremely delicious. The experience was lovely and would highly recommend this bar 🤗

1 month ago Valerie Di Lellaexplained best how he liked it:

We stumbled upon this wine bar to escape the rain and it was a great decision. The owner, Domenico, was a lovely host and curated a wine tasting evening for us. He took the time to explain all the Sardegna wines and regions and suggested others based on our preferences. He also went around to each table and offered some small snacks. Great experience!

9 months ago Juliawrote only this for this place:

The best place for drinks in Alghero for a chill night in the city. We visited on two occasions. Dominique is very welcoming and knowledgeable. Absolutely excellent! A must visit in Alghero! Host and wine is beautiful and the atmosphere is excellent. I would definitely come again!!

11 months ago Monika Rajnochovawrote only this for this place:

From outside it looks like ordinary place but once you are in, you will never want to leave. We visited bar at our last night in Alghero and honestly this is the evening to remember. The magic guy behind bar - Domenico, will serve you as "your majesty". We tried some of his cocktails and we really enjoyed all of them. All the time we were drinking, tasty snacks were going around us just as something local to try. Fantastic place!

10 months ago Marcus Martinohow did he rate it?

This is an experience that you have to try. Specially the Gin tonic and the Negroni combined with the offered home made appetizer are the amazing. The owner, Domenico, is an artist and a wonderful person.

What our travelers says:

10 months ago ShesDarling: it is necessary to add to this place:

My friend and I came here on a whim at night, and the atmosphere here is quite nice! It’s got nice upbeat music, nicely crafted cocktails, and we had 2 waitresses check on us (even though we already ordered at the counter), so they’re on top of service. The lighting and aesthetic of the place is almost like a tropical tiki vibe. I can’t speak for the food, but for a night drink it’s a good choice!

10 months ago Bryan Calinwrote only this about this place:

Day after day, lots of disgusting garbage on the main street just behind. Stay away. DIRT OUTSIDE = DIRT INSIDE. Is everything allowed in this dirty town? SAD to say. This lovely town has much to improve.

6 months ago Stevesaid the following about this gem:

First bar we stopped at after arriving, was told to just sit down and someone will take our order, 10mins past and no one came so I went in to then be told again by someone different it is table service. Another 10mins with still no service so just moved onto the next. Will not return due to the terrible service!

Great breakfast and coffee ! Best cornetto pistachio ever. The kindest attention ever from an Argentinian girl. Best location near the sea.

Awesome staff, there are more than 5/6 waitresses, who are very polite, smiling and friendly. They serve you very quickly, you do not need to wait a lot. We had our stops here every morning - they make great coffee and awesome sweet and salty fresh italian food. We used to have awesome foccacia with prossciutto, mayonaise, butter, tuna and vegetable, every morning and they also make tasty cakes if you like sweets. Prices are very reasonable. Also fried squid is good choice ;) I do recommend 5/5. If I ever get back to Alghero (which I do hope so) this will be my morning stop on my way to beach. Thank you Cafe&Cake Alghero staff for nice mornings ❤️👌

Perfect cappuccino, great food. Nice waitress with knowledge of English. Beautiful view, we like to come back.

3 weeks ago Martina Juranexplained best how he liked it:

Nice staff but cakes and drinks below average, not Italian standard

1 year ago Nel Casper- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

It was amazing place to have our breakfast extended till a dinner time. Amazing staff, super friendly, tasty food and killer cocktails 🍸!!!! Truthfully must go!!!

1 year ago Tanja Spens Sellick: it is necessary to add to this place:

We ordered two cappaccinos and a slice of cake, and payed ~7 euros. The cappaccinos were 1.8 each. We really enjoyed it, it has a lovely view of the ocean and isn't too close to the road (for being a café on the side of the road). The toilets were clean as well. I would definitely come here again if given the chance! The custard cake with figs pictured below was excellent.

Wonderful place! I visited last week. Customer from Paraguay!

1 year ago c smithevaluates this place as follows:

Cafe popular with locals, opposite a school which is nice to hear the kids playing outside in combination with the noise of crockery behind the bar. Flakey pastries with smooth fillings.

1 year ago Cami V.explained best how he liked it:

We went for breakfast but we had comunication issues with the staff, their attitude was not very customer friendly and, most certainly, we won't be back. The coffee was less than average.

2 years ago David Skopal: it is necessary to add to this place:

Perfect! Close to city, but not focused on tourists, I've heard only Italian speaking. Service was great, everything unbelievably quick and delicious. Highly recommended 👏

11 months ago m whow did he rate it?

Beautiful location; very ambient, happy staff. 3 STARS because the Bailys I ordered was either a total fake or very much watered down. Also, very small and weak measures.

1 year ago Michael Nowakwhat can I say about this place?

The smell of aromatic (not sour) coffee and a croissant with delicious pistachio cream will help us start the day properly. And in the afternoon, coffee cream or a drink. So, as you can see, it's a perfect place for an Italian breakfast in the morning or in the afternoon siesta.

1 year ago Jaymie McGonigleexplained best how he liked it:

I visited this spot twice. Right next to the boat marina. Great for people watching. Drinks were lovely. Coffee and the pistachio croissant were absolutely delish. Staff was friendly and attentive.

4. place belongs to Café Del Principe

Café Del Principe
We give 9/10!. This place was visited and rated 997-times

What our travelers says:

2 years ago Veronika Radobická- why does he think this place is on the list?

We were having breakfast in Café del Principe every day for more than one week, during our stay at Coral Bay Charming House, as the accomodation has partnership with Café. And it was truly the best experience of typical Sardinian breakfast. We enjoyed freshly made croissants with amazing soya cappucino or black tea. Moreover it was nice experience seeing breakfast habbits of locals, their loudly chatting from early morning or reading newspapers. The staff was very friendly and accomodating.. Fully recommended for traditional Sardinian breakfast.

1 year ago Eva Sirova: it is necessary to add to this place:

3. place is occupied by Cafè Latino | StreetFood Bar

Cafè Latino | StreetFood Bar
We give 8.6/10!. This place was visited and rated 1011-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago Kevin McCabe: it is necessary to add to this place:

This spot has a great view of the marina, and I imagine on a nice hot day that it is the perfect location as there was ample outdoor seating but with umbrellas and the building shielding the sun a fair amount of the afternoon. Just had lite bites, but they were good and the beer and wine hit the spot. Careful- the outdoor seating was a bit wet from the night before. Nothing unbearable, but they don’t offer a solution for that. Overall, good experience.

7 months ago Vladimír Samotijdescribed this experience as follows:

Great place when you just want to relax, enjoy the evening with friends drinking cocktails and good food. Situated in the north part of Alghero with a nice view to the harbour. Cheer's 🥂

2 years ago S- why does he think this place is on the list?

Our favourite place in Alghero. Really friendly staff who speak good English. Great selection of drinks and cocktails which are fairly priced at €8. Good complimentary snacks and great view of the harbour. Comfortable seats both in the sun or shade. We came back several times

2 years ago Batca Marius Alin- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

An extremely nice location. It has a lovely view of the harbor and Capo Caccia. People are ok, too. But don't expect to eat breakfast at 9.30am. They have only ”colazione”, which means croissants or muffins, with coffe. In fact, in Alghero, I haven't found anything that offers a ”real” breakfast. All in all, a good location for a successful morning!

8 months ago Flavia Tanasewrote only this about this place:

Nice cafe bar overseeing the harbor. With all the typically late opening hours and breaks, it was nice to find a cafe open, with free seating and quick service in a nice area. It’s offers some pretty basic options of drinks and some snacks (sandwiches, fries) so it’s definitely more a tourist orieted place than a spot for locals, but nonetheless it does its job well. Staff was nice and quick with the order, prices were fair.

2. place gets Ristorante Il Pesce D'oro

Ristorante Il Pesce D'oro
We rate 8.8/10!. This place was visited and rated 2577-times

What our travelers says:

1 month ago Grzegorz Januszkasaid the following about this gem:

A unique place. Atmospheric, large room, very nice service that took care of us at every step. The appetizer is a selection of small portions in which you can get to know the taste of Sardinia. Pasta with anchovy powder, a strong, expressive dish, nice looking and tasty. For dessert, great seadas, a Sardinian delicacy with ricotta cheese, warm and sweet with honey, a delicious dish. Prices are quite high but the food is very good. I recommend it

1 month ago Jonathan Dunfordevaluates this place as follows:

Absolutely fantastic! Our tour guide Alexandro recommended this restaurant, and it turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip. The seafood is incredibly fresh, and the lemon pasta alle vongole is truly indescribable—perfectly balanced and bursting with flavor. The staff were attentive and kind, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. Highly recommended!

11 months ago Arna Ksiwrote only this about this place:

The food was awesome. The beautiful tuna tartare with avocado cream and passion fruit was perfect. The Sardinian pasta with seafood was also great, better than expected. The panna cotta with pistachio was just okay; I would skip it next time. At the beginning of the dinner, the service was super professional, but as time passed, we were somewhat forgotten and needed to call for waiters several times to move on with the dinner. The place was crowded, but I would still expect them to handle that kind of guest capacity. In any case, the dinner and food were great, and I definitely recommend it.

7 months ago Catalin Chivuhow did he rate it?

The food is amazing and the staff and the atmosphere is great! The tiramisu is absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing fresh fish. Went there 3 days in row. The best tuna tartare, ceviche and monk fish OMG! Great service!

1. place gets Bar Focacceria Milese

Bar Focacceria Milese
We rate the place at 9/10!. This place was visited and rated 6400-times

What our travelers says:

4 weeks ago Thiago Zanardosaid the following about this gem:

We left Arzachena very early and arrived in Alghero absolutely starving. After trying to sit down elsewhere without luck, we found Bar Focacceria Milese, which had great Google reviews, and decided to give it a try. The place wasn’t too busy yet, so we chose to eat in. We had two Focaccia Milese, a café latte, and a freshly squeezed orange juice (spremuta)—everything was fresh and delicious. The bar was clean and had a toilet available, which was also very clean—always a plus when you’re traveling! We loved it so much, we came back at lunchtime, but the place was packed with a long queue, so we grabbed takeaway instead. I definitely recommend this spot—very affordable, all homemade, and full of flavor!

10 months ago Rene Hvid- why does he think this place is on the list?

Great foccacia sandwiches. The best in Alghero and they are also very fair priced. We were here nine years ago and back then they were great and nor they are the same great quality. Will highly recommend these as takeaway for tx a boat ride or to take with you to the airport since the food there is very bad.

11 months ago Bashar Al Katribsaid the following about this gem:

Before visiting Alghero, i read about this place and decided to give it a try. Truth to be told, it is absolutely recommended. It is a must try. Fairly priced (two Focaccia’s for 7 euros) and very tasty. Super glad to have had the chance to eat here.

7 months ago Katya Kaleginaevaluates this place as follows:

Our focaccia sandwiches (€3,5) were both a bit on the drier side but the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Aperol spritz was outstanding and cost me just €5 🔥

6 months ago Minh Nguyễnevaluates this place as follows:

The focaccia are more like sandwiches and please note that except for the tosti everything is served cold. This is a great option for a light meal or to just eat somewhere just outside the historic centre, coupled with a walk along the harbour. We tried out several of the focacce and the tramezzini and all were good. I liked their eggplant but would recommend the most their Milese focaccia.
