What our travelers says:

1 year ago A R Cevaluates this place as follows:

The Spielzeug Museum, located in the heart of Salzburg, features a diverse array of toys, ranging from antique dolls and teddy bears to model trains and vintage board games. The exhibits highlight the evolution of toys over time, offering a glimpse into the changing trends and cultural influences on play. The museum's interactive displays and engaging presentations make it an enjoyable experience for families and those interested in the history of toys. It's a delightful place to explore and rediscover the magic of childhood!!

1 year ago Ben Hinssenevaluates this place as follows:

Amazing museum for kids! I went with my sons of 4 and 5 and the played from 10 until 15 without stopping. There’s a play area to the left with 3 rooms. And to the right is a snack area and you can go up the stairs for a huge area with a combinations of expositions and play corners for the kids. Would definitely recommend! Especially because it’s super cheap (10 euros for 2 adults and 2 kids). We parked in Alt stad parking B nearby. When you hand in the ticket in the toy museum, you get discount on the parking tariff.

2 years ago Carlos Blanco: it is necessary to add to this place:

Excellent! This is a wonderful and real museum for children , an unique experience for parents and kids . They can play with a lot of things and learn at the same time. Parents get also involved in a connection to their childhood. I recommend to bring some food for a quick meal to extend the visit. 3-4 hours you can enjoy everything. On Sunday they also have a puppet show.

2 years ago Ana Grosusaid the following about this gem:

Lovely fun times at this great museum. You can barely get your kid out of there once you go win. An ingenious mix of precious toys displayed for all to enjoy and toys for children to play with at will. For us it was the perfect solution for a rainy day but I would recommend it any day. Would defined say it is a must not miss for children visiting Salzburg

1 year ago Sayeed Shariffwhat can I say about this place?

Wonderful to go with children. Infants, kids will enjoy the toy museum. Planned well for every age. Books, play area, different set of blocks to enhance the mental ability of kids, with good history about various eras that built toys. If I had a toy museum in my city I would take my children to such museums N number of times. Simply fabulous !!!

Very Nice Beer Bar as well as Brewery in Salzburg ! Excellent selection of beers ! Around four seatings restaurants for Beer ! Had great time 😀

1 year ago Linn Lindström- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Great place! Food, beer, EV Charger and plenty of parking. Museum and museum shop. We only had time for a late lunch/early dinner on our road trip but I would happily come back! I still got some souvenirs 😉

2 years ago Ekaterina Dunne- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Great experience: loved the tour, lots of fun merchandise and nice dinner to polish it off. The beer garden has also a kids playground, so parents can enjoy Stiegl and kids have fun. Absolutely recommend

1 year ago Keith Brown's [mainly] Railway Video'swrote only this for this place:

Excellent brewery with a wide selection of beers available. Seperate restaraunt available but there is also another area for 'lighter' meals. A shop also available for merchandise. Great, friendly service.

2 years ago Shaelynwrote only this about this place:

came here just to eat lunch and the food was good! i got the roast pork that was very tasty and soft, accompanied with nicely marinated crunchy veggies and a soft but dense dumpling. my mom got the baked chicken salad (but it was a fried chicken?) that came with a generous serving of cucumbers, tomatoes, coleslaw and kidney beans. the sauce was the signature beery housedressing that was sweet, zesty and refreshing with a tinge of balsamic vinegar. if you are a fan of hot chocolate do get it as it was my favourite hot chocolate of the trip. our waiter was friendly and funny, and the atmosphere of the outdoor seating was warm and comfortable. it was a really pleasant dining experience!

8. place is occupied by Mozart Residence

Mozart Residence
We give 8.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 5947-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago AAdescribed this experience as follows:

I see a lot of reviews saying it cost too much to go in. Get the Salzburg card!! You could get into a lot of museums for free. For this museum, there was nothing special really other than looking at the things that Mozart used and how his apartment was like. But regardless, it is still the home of the famous Mozart so it’s worth going~

1 year ago Denisesaid the following about this gem:

It really shouldn’t cost as much as it does to get in. There isn’t a lot to see but there are some cool pieces in there. The instruments displayed are extremely neat to see and well preserved- I especially loved the top carving of the viola and his first violin. Honestly, though my favorite part was reading the sassy letters. Not only did they display Mozart frustration with singers, in a hysterical fashion but they also had letters that showed just how much the public stroked his ego as well. I’m not saying the ego stroking wasn’t well deserved but to see it in old print gave me a chuckle- such a tiny talented man with an ego bigger than Austria. I wish they played more of his music in every room, instead of just one. This museum just left me wanting more. Maybe more of a focus that a 13 year old was writing all these amazing musical pieces. More about how his parents fostered his love and dealt with the fame part of it. Or even more about his two sons attempting to follow in his footsteps.

1 year ago Celso Romerowhat can I say about this place?

From 1773 to 1787, the Mozarts lived at the so-called "Dance Master's House", standing on today's Makartplatz. The spacious eight-room apartment on the first floor is now home to a museum. Good visit and museum store!

1 year ago Becky Twrote only this for this place:

Mozart's Wohnhaus (Residence) is a museum set in the place he lived for 7 years. We saw the 8 rooms of information in about 30 minutes at a moderate pace, seeing the paintings, letters, instruments, and information about his life, travels and work. There is a free audio guide app, though there are also ample signs in German and English throughout the exhibition. Note that if you're also planning on seeing his birthplace, the combined ticket is a better deal than purchasing individual tickets. For facilities there is a gift shop and clean (though dated) toilets.

1 year ago Illywrote only this about this place:

The place Mozart lived in the past. It's not free entry but Salzburg card provides one time free admission. You can find a huge variety of souvenirs related to Mozart if you're interested in buying some. The whole building was under construction or renovation. That's why, I couldn't get a picture of the building itself unfortunately.

7. place belongs to Salzburg Cathedral

Salzburg Cathedral
Definitely deserves 9.4/10!. This place was visited and rated 9749-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago Landon Fillmorehow did he rate it?

The building was stunning, with lofty ceilings filled with art. There are 4-5 different organs and we attended a Christmas concert with a duet between a saxophone and organ that was gorgeous. So much to see!

1 year ago Becky Thow did he rate it?

The cathedral is beautiful, with very exquisite ceilings and an unusual four organs in the four column corners up front. The crypt is ok though not tons to see. I wish there was a little more information or history around given the €5 entry, but is still probably worth a stop if in Salzburg.

1 year ago Maria Rita Tan- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Must visit when in Salzburg. Magnificent church in the old town near mozartplatz. You have to pay 5euro to enter or do a 9euro noon time music inside the church. The intricate design of the ceiling and wall painting is very specular. Take your time walking around the church to see all its splendors. Remember to check the crypt at the basement.

1 year ago Natasha Panagiotopoulos- why does he think this place is on the list?

An incredibly impressive work of architecture and art. The amount of work that has gone into this cathedral is amazing. Well worth a look inside for such a small price.

1 year ago Gerald Hallevaluates this place as follows:

What an amazing piece of art and architecture of a seventeenth-century Baroque cathedral. A must visit when in Salzburg. Just sit in a pew and appreciate respectfully what was built in 1181.

Haus der Natur

What our travelers says:

1 year ago HintiJwrote only this for this place:

You need time to visit this place. I recommend 5-6h including a break at the cafe in the house. Parking in the old city garage is better as they have special discounts at their counter for the garage. Place was buzzing with people as i visited during school holidays. Very Educational and great for young kids who to learn a lot.

1 year ago Cameron Kao- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

It is somewhat similar to a science museum, with fish displays, dinosaur model displays, weight experiences of nine planets, etc., and the most exciting thing is that there is a practical experience area where you can experience relevant scientific principles from actual operations. I like it very much. Recommended for families with children.

1 year ago Adam Jaskoevaluates this place as follows:

We were looking for things to do on a rainy day in Salzburg, by chance we parked Infront of this place and decided, why not? We spent 4+ hours, got kicked out due to closing times, and we could have spent easily another hour or two. It is MASSIVE inside, super detailed, interesting, interactive and amazing. Great for and for adults, highly reccomend. We read that the reptile section was closed for improvements, but then found part of the aquarium was also closed as they were re-doing the floors, but the rest of the exhibits made up for it. One of best days so far!

1 year ago Balazs Toth: it is necessary to add to this place:

Drove 2 hours to see this place since it looked unique and fun from the online pictures and reviews. Overall it was disappointing compared to other science centers. Many areas were dark and quite frightening for our younger ones, even 4+. We were surprised by numerous gory scenes and photos of dead or injured animals, and human surgery. There is also a large skeleton character dressed up with spooky red lighting. Maybe we missed it but we didn't see any warning or age rating notice. Everybody loved the aquariums which varied from small to very large. The dinosaur section was much smaller than expected. It was interesting but not worth the big trip. Prices however are reasonable.

1 year ago Nuri Yosawrote only this for this place:

A beautiful small square that includes a Mozart statue. In December, also includes an ice rink. There’s not much more to say - worth the 30 second look if nearby.

1 year ago Hector Gonzalezwrote only this about this place:

Beautiful square with Mozart statue. Around the square the town is charming with a spectacular fountain and other squares. Around this beautiful street with restaurants.

1 year ago AA- why does he think this place is on the list?

It’s a plaza with the Mozart statue. There was a ice skating rink when we are there. It’s a good place to go and get some pictures taken.

1 year ago D. Ing. HASSAN ABOURAYAhow did he rate it?

4. place gets Hellbrunn Palace

Hellbrunn Palace
We rate 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 18988-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago Michael Barton- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

This is a beautiful compound where you can easily spend a few hours. The interior of the estate is beautiful and informative. You'll tour multiple floors and learn about the Prince Archbishop that created the estate. Outside the gardens are gorgeous. You'll love being exposed to the meadows, flowers, ponds, and even memorabilia from The Sound of Music. Behind the palace are the trick fountains. Those require a timed ticket which is worth your money and time. It's easily the highlight of your visit so book early or spend time exploring the garden until your entry time. The gift shop is pricey but cute. Restrooms are available for free and staff does speak English.

1 year ago Natasha Panagiotopoulos: it is necessary to add to this place:

An absolute must see, even just for the trick fountains alone (as a caution, you will get a little wet, but it's well worth it). The palace is set on expansive grounds, so set aside a bit of time to properly see everything. I'd highly recommend the restaurant on site, the food was amazing and had one of the best schnitzels I'd had in Austria.

1 year ago Keith Wylieexplained best how he liked it:

Worth a visit. Trick fountains could've done with a bit more trickery as we weren't getting wet that much but still a fun enough place for the family day out. Kids will enjoy it ....if they get a chance to get wet. Gardens are lovely and it was very nice to see thee actual garden glass porch cabin from the movie Sound of music there. Very happy to see that. All very easy to get too with number 25 bus .

1 year ago Girish S- why does he think this place is on the list?

Trick fountains are a must visit. It's a scheduled visit and all the exhibits are in working condition and impressive. The Salzburg zoo if less than 10 min walk from here and worth a visit if you have time. Lots of animals you don't see in your standard zoo.

2 years ago Rea Rubio-Stockwhat can I say about this place?

Lovely place!❤️ We had tour and it was fun playing on the water tricks while listening to the audio. It was an amazing place to visit. What’s more interesting was the stories behind each of the station. I do recommend to get your own audio at the entrance and hey its free!☺️

3. place definitely deserves Mozart's Birthplace

Mozart's Birthplace
We rate 8.4/10!. This place was visited and rated 21398-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago Dimitris Kostidissaid the following about this gem:

Another amazing museum for Mozart, his birthplace. It is open until 17:30 local time, so you can leave this one last, although you can spend a lot of time in there. We used our Salzburg card and got inside for free. I would definitely recommend this place while you visit Salzburg.

1 year ago Marty Moss: it is necessary to add to this place:

Spent part of our morning at this museum and home. Most people know Mozart however I did learn quite a bit during my visit. We were able to take our time and spend just over an hour. There was enough detail to see more but 2 hours would be at the top end of my preferred time to spend. A lot of interesting artifacts to see.

1 year ago Sarbajit Ghoshwrote only this for this place:

I felt nostalgic , proud to visit Mozart birthplace and residency . But entry fee of museum for one person is exorbitantly high 13euro. Not for everyone. That should be around 5euro or so .

1 year ago Jessica Cwrote only this about this place:

Really nicely laid out museum for a place originally never designed to be one. Well flowing exhibits with very detailed and (unintended?) humorous narratives. Lots and lots of stairs so not handicap friendly. WiFi is inconsistent for the non-German/English speakers. Takes about 1.5 hours to get through if you read everything. Remember to look up at the ceiling.

1 year ago James Naismith- why does he think this place is on the list?

Well described museum. All signs English and German (Austrian). Lots of new facts about Mozart’s life and family. (Sister was new to me). It’s a lot of stairs and rooms small however you come away informed. I loved the little models of the opera sets. Highly recommended if you interested in Mozart.

2. place is occupied by Mirabell Palace

Mirabell Palace
We give 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 26401-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago Ian Edmondsonexplained best how he liked it:

Didn't go inside as this wasn't part of the Salzburg Card but the grounds even in winter were amazing. The views to the fortress are stunning. Will have to go back in summer when the flowers are out and the fountains working!!

1 year ago Bharathi Maniwrote only this for this place:

Absolutely gorgeous gardens. The entry to the palace and gardens are free. I went on Sunday and couldn't access the palace. However I had been to concert a day earlier and got to see the staircase and marble room which were nice. The highlight was the garden. It was beautifully done. The sound of music was shot here so special significance. Try to get there as soon as it opens to avoid crowds

1 year ago Ykenn Padallawrote only this for this place:

Such a beauty in Salzburg, situated between other tourist attractions plus you don’t need a ticket to check on the garden. I am also lucky it is just a few steps from my hotel.

1 year ago Suliana- in short, this experience can be described as follows:

Beautiful well maintained gardens! For sound of music lovers this must be your first stop. Very colourful gardens but amazing backdrop with the city views & cathedral buildings. Free entry. Only downside is you have to pay 50c for the toilet, I don't understand why it's not free.

1 year ago Marianna Shemshurawhat can I say about this place?

This place is definitely a pearl of Salzburg! The garden is spectacular with its perfect symmetry. I also liked the dwarfs garden - they are so cute and each one has its own history. The palace is also accessible and it’s free, but all the rooms are under administrative use so I only saw the corridors and the stairs but it definitely worth visiting. The access to the garden and to the palace is free but if you want to use the bathroom it costs 0,50€.

1. place is occupied by Fortress Hohensalzburg

Fortress Hohensalzburg
Definitely deserves 9.2/10!. This place was visited and rated 42705-times

What our travelers says:

1 year ago Philip O'Mahony: it is necessary to add to this place:

Great place to visit. What they don't tell you until you climb the big hill to get there is that it costs to just get in the grounds. Its worth it just for the views though to be honest gazing over the alps especially during sunset was lovely. I would recommend a visit if in Salzburg for a stay.

1 year ago Becky Tsaid the following about this gem:

Easy to spend 1.5-2 hours here. The views are spectacular, and museums mostly good. State Rooms: They are beautiful (particularly ceilings and walls), but I hadn’t realized there were only 3 rooms to see. Interesting but only took 5 minutes to see. Main museum: An interesting mix of general history and historical life, but found the super basic English signs to be distracting. (They sound as if they were written for 5 or 6 year olds.) Regimental Museum: An interesting 6-8 rooms on military history in Salzburg given the regiment based there, particularly focusing on 1800-1918. Marionette museum: Two rooms with about puppets with signs in English, German, and Italian. Cute but in and out in 5 minutes. Purchasing tickets is easy either online or in person, the this ticket will need to be scanned before entering the funicular and various museums at the top. Toilets were quite clean in/near museums. Cafe: Service wasn’t great whilst waiting but nice to have option.

1 year ago Dan- why does he think this place is on the list?

This is a must if you're visiting Salzburg. The fortress is one of the most characteristic places in the city. It is very well preserved, with a lot of museums and rooms to visit and it offers a great view above the city. I really enjoyed the many snippets and videos scattered around the place. They provided a lot of historical anecdotes and gave us some glimpses of life back in the middle ages. You can reach the fortress with a funicular or on foot. I recommend walking up there only if you have the endurance for it. The trail is quite steep at times. I also recommend booking the tickets in advance online. There are always a lot of people going there and having already the tickets drastically reduces the wait in line.

1 year ago Vee Browsewrote only this for this place:

Buy the Salzburg card and get to this for free among other attractions! Absolutely worth going! It was packed at the top but there’s a queue and trail to follow so you’ll be ok and will get to see the sights and take pictures. Everyone does it. Just wait your turn. It’s worth it. You get to see Salzburg and its surrounding area. 360 degrees view. You get the funicular up and then to get to the top you’ll need to climb up some steps. Being unfit I thought I’d die! If I could do it - anyone can. Honest. Truth. It’s definitely worth going not just for the view but also a little taste of how life waste within the walls. Well worth a visit!

1 year ago Ian Edmondson: it is necessary to add to this place:

Amazing 360 scenic views from the top of the fortress. Great Museum with good displays. We even went to a Mozart Concert (and meal) here which was very good! Definitely worth a trip especially if you have the Salzburg card!
